Funny that Athyman.
I'm a Biffo and I agree that Offaly were brutal, worst I've seen & I've being going to games since 1957. Yes Kildare really tanked us and if they had not messed up the goal chances it would have been really a total embarresment.
Had a Dub friend with me, not a GAA man so would not know the KIldare players but he's raving about the player he thought was Kildare's best, Tommy Moolick, so different folks and all that

| Kelt I agree tommy o Neil is a serious player, there is so much competition in the squad for places it is a great position to be in. Offaly need to go back to the drawing board , although I thought there number 10 was a stand out player. | |

| It was touch and go between Tommy and Jimmers as MOM for me. Tommy got on loads of ball but it was armchair stuff. He looks to have strengthened up. We'll know more next week, that was just worth nothing today. | |

| What young players featured today other than Moolick?
IMO he is too slow at this level although he does have the football ability.

Agree Ogie, Offaly were not up to much. To be fair they have a new man at the helm and he's probably in the middle of finding out what he has to work with at this level. He has a big job on his hands in the coming months, although i didnt see him there today. Anyone know when was the last time we welcomed Dublin to Newbridge in a Senior football clash? |

| Think we played them in the league in 93 or 94. The match ended in a draw after 2 late Dublin points. Could have been a later game that I cant recall. | |

| I agree old spice moolick is physically very strong but has not got the pace for senior football, the only other person to get there first run was paddy Dunn from athy in full forward got a couple of nice touches but not on long enough to rate | |

| Seem to recall a league match when Micko and Pat O'Neill had a running shouting match on the line for the best part of twenty minutes. Must have been '93 or '94. | |

| Well done Kildare, completely controlled the game. Some nice scores taken, and good passages of play. Good to see were trying new lads in places, good to have a large pick. Best of luck on sunday next!! | |

| Tommy Moolick is 19 and one of the most promising young footballers in Kildare. He might lack a bit of pace but you could say the same about plenty of good midfielders down the years. He's a footballer, not an Olympic sprinter ffs.
Crazy to be judging players on a non-event O'Byrne Cup match. That Offaly team today would struggle to beat most senior club sides in Kildare. At least next Sunday should be a little more competitive.

The last senior game between Kildare and Dublin in Newbridge was in February 1995. Kildare won by 2 points. http://www.gaainfo.com/article.php?story=0&matchno=185&co=intercounty&year=1995Great to see 70% of the scores that day came from Sarsfields lads. Dermot Early was the manager those days

| Leaving politics aside for a while what do we think about this weekend team wise.
Can't see the back six changing much, especially the back three, Changes could be in the half backs, maybe MOF alongside Tommy O' Neill who after last week deserves another start and EOF. Midfield will stay the same due to injury, biggest changes will be up front I think. J.D to get his first start, with Paudi and Conway in the half forwards. Full may be Dowling, O'Connor and Smith/ Kavanagh. If Fogarty is fit, I'd like to see him get game.
Team along the lines of this
1. Connolly 2. Kelly 3. Fitzpatrick 4. Lyons 5. MOF 6. O'Neill 7. EOF 8. Flynn 9. Roli 10. Paudi 11. Conway 12. J.D 13. Dowling/ Kavanagh 14. TOC/ Fogarty 15. Smith / Kelly
A win would be good, but a good performance is more important. This is the perfect game to run us into the League opener in a couple of weeks. It could go wither way, as a Kildare man I'll always choose us over them every day. Usually it doesn't work out but that's the way it is.

| Here's what i think. 1.Connolly. 2.Kelly 3.Fitzy 4.lyons or Hughie 5.Morgan 6.T o Neil 7.Bolts 8.Flynn 9.Roli 10 Lepper. 11Paudie 12.Jimmer's 13 JD 14.TOC 15 Smithy
This will be as close too it!!!!

| Cm, Bolton would be in my team all day every day, but he is not even in the squads at the moment unlike J.D. He may be injured or has been given extra time off, I don't know.
But if he was available that would certainly be a move I would make. Reading your team I realised I did not have leper in there either. Shows the strength in depth we have when you can overlook one of our best players.

| http://www.reservoirdubs.com/forum/index.php/topic,13547.444.htmlI know I shouldn't go near this forum but I tend to have a look when we're playing them... jesus it would make you physically sick. They see no irony in running up hundreds of posts about how we're obsessed with them - it was the same last year when they had a thread about 25 pages long about Kildare. Also obsessed with The Sunday Game's quote last year about us being third-best team in the country: even though no-one in Kildare said that, it's used as an example of us 'getting carried away'.Which they see no irony in - my lord, never has so much obnoxiousness been generated in a set of supporters by one All-Ireland. I'm sick of hearing 'ah Dubs fans are good craic' when in reality, I find most of the ones I meet are like the posters on the above link. The scary thing is that I reckon they probably have another All-Ireland in them. Which makes me glad I've emigrated. | |

| Cm, if he is ok to play I'd have him in alongside, MOF and TON
O2, I won't go near that place. Every county has it's share of idiots but apparently the Dubs percentage have all congregated together on that one forum. Best ignore it, everyone else does. Unfortunately, they tend to drift out into other forums which although I am not a poster on, I do read now and again when we have a match coming up and they are obsessed with Kildare for some reason. As you say I don't think they have gotten over the whole "third best team" thing.
Leave them at it if it makes them happy, we'll continue to concentrate on our own County.

| Sound advice Rex. I knew I wasn't reading the musings of GAA experts when one poster said we couldn't beat them last year even though they were down to 10 men. | |

| I was talking to Bolton last Sunday and he was not togged out. Maybe he is minding himself for next week. Anyone get the feeling on Sunday that it's do or die in 2012. I know the Geezer has already stressed the importance of getting out of Division 2 this year but a Leinster must be the absolute minimum. I couldn't really care less who wins on Sunday but who is refereeing the game ? I was reading Colm O'Rourke in the Sunday Independent supplement and he could not understand how the Kerry players did not question the refereeing in the AI final. I suppose its not in their psyche and when you have as many AI's as they have , maybe who cares. It will be interesting to see if that liitle cheat of a McQuillan gets many Dubs games this year because the Dubs owe him big time after 2011. God he is a despicable little man | |

| Eddie Kinsella from Laois is the ref.
I'd say Hugh McGrillen and Pádraig Fogarty (if over his illness) will both get a start on Sunday. Bolton didn't feature in any of the O'Byrne Cup matches last year until the final where he lined out at corner-back IIRC. JD didn't feature at all in the O'Byrne Cup.
