| Guys I predict we will retain our crown in 2012 and it will be a steping stone to a greater sucess in 2012, any new faces to come into the team will appear for this competition. | |

| I think the Crowe lad from Carbury has to get a run and we might see a few Athy lads maybe. Reynolds feeley or kinahan. Although u never can tell what mcgeeney is looking for. Hard to make the step from club to county. | |

| I think the lads who came into the panel last year but who did not get much game time should get priority. Fogarty, Hurley, Lyons, Dowling, and Brophy. Dont think Feeley will be available next year but Eaton, Mulhall and Dunne are worth a try. | |

| Seniors played u21's in a match in Hawkfield today. Lots of new faces.
Juniors also played a match amongst themselves. Lots of bodies around Hawkfield.
It's back. |

| Thank the Lord there is some football on the horizon. The withdrawal symptoms were starting to kick in after the Club championship.
Great to have a game to go to next Sunday, looking forward to getting back on the road again. Plus even though I'd rather the game in Newbridge, an early trip to headquarters is something to look ahead to.
It will be interesting to see who gets the call to step up and show what they can do.
I wish the best of luck to all out teams for the coming year as it's the one thing we need. Just that little bit of luck.

| How are the lads who were injured? Roli recovered after the broken arm? How's Dermot coming along? Peter Kelly? Mikey? Has anyone any information on the general condition of the team? | |

Not sure about Roli. He picked up some infection after the injury and had to spend a few days in hospital. Dermot won't feature in the league. Hopefully back for the championship and every chance given that we're not out until the middle of June. Mikey and Peter Kelly are ready to go. Not sure if Kelly is still with UCD though so wouldn't be available to Kildare for the O'BC as long as UCD are in it?

| According to the Leader Kevin Feely may be playing on Sunday, if so it's brilliant news. The guy can field, score and tackle and has a huge workrate. Would love to see him getting a run out with the seniors. Know it's a step up but he's already proved himself against county midfielders in the leinster club games. | |

I think le hit in was asking about football and not Tiger Lily's this coming Friday. Eitherway it's good News to hear he's back, both him and Peter Kelly will be big additions this co ing season. |

| The Kildare footballers return to action this weekend when they begin the defence of their O’Byrne Cup title against DIT in St. Conleth’s Park Newbridge on Sunday, January 8th at 2pm. Kildare won this competition last year defeating Louth in the final with two dramatic late goals from Ronan Sweeney and Keith Cribbin and will hope to again be a force in the competition. The Lilies have returned to training this week and hope to have a strong panel available for selection with some of last year’s injured players now back in action.
Joe Crowe from Carbury and St. Laurences’ Dessie Lawlor have both joined the panel, while Damien Hendy, David Whyte and Keith Cribbin are no longer involved. Damien has retired from intercounty action having given great service to Kildare, while David and Keith have opted off the panel for 2012. Dermot Earley, Hugh Lynch, Willie Heffernan and Mark O’Sullivan are all still out of action following cruciate ligament injuries last year, but Peter Kelly and Ken Donnelly are both back in full training. Andriú MacLochlainn is recovering from injury at present and will be unavailable for selection this weekend, All Star fullback Mick Foley is still away travelling, while goalkeeper Shane McCormack will be involved with UUJ in the McKenna Cup against Donegal.
Indeed it will be interesting to see what team Kieran McGeeney and his selectors opt for in this opening game of the season with a number of young players hoping to get their chance to impress the manager and stake a claim for inclusion when the league commences in February against Tyrone, while many of the experienced players will also be anxious to get game time under their belts as they look to achieve match fitness. DIT will be using the game as preparation for the Sigerson Cup and should prove to be very tough opponents for the Lilies. Hopefully there will be a good crowd in attendance to cheer on the home team.

| So are Earley and Lynch likely to be ready to play by the end of the NFL or not? Seem to be some conflicting reports on this? | |

| Just listened to KFM sports preview and Geezer said they were out training at 7am this morning. There is no denying the total commitment these lads have. They are proud to wear the Lilywhite Jersey and if their efforts are not rewarded then there is no justice in the Universe.
I have nothing but admiration for them all.
A strong team is expected to line out by all accounts. Weather is supposed to be kind, so let the games begin.

Eitherway it's good News to hear he's back, both him and Peter Kelly will be big additions this co ing season. Didn't think a man of you're ilk would frequent Tiger Lily's. Didn't think a man of your ilk would have known what ilk even meant or that there was life outside of J.J Martins. If we continue to do what we have have done for the last 4 seasons in terms of training and preparation we'll continue to get the same results and fall short. I agree Rex I have nothing but admiration for the lads but this year coming is a big year and we need that extra 10% from everyone, even if that means giving 110%. |

| Hard to believe that Peter Kelly hasn't played for 18 months. Unsurprisingly, he's gagging for road. http://www.daraghoconchuir.ie/blog.php?id=1612On another note, I heard Feely has opted to concentrate on soccer although he is involved with the U21s. I must say I was gutted to hear that. as he could do with a year in the system, which would really see him blossom to be a superstar in my opinion. But if he doesn't want to, he doesn't want to. Sid Donnelly is back as well as Mikey and Kelly, Dermot and Hugh are a few months away, as long as they have no setback, so fingers crossed there. | |
