Heard they was a meeting about the last round of the Intermediate Hurling Championship, I suspect it was to review some of the results in the round 8 and maybe the result of one game in particular.

Anyone hear anything on this.

Nine teams in one group should be scrapped !!

Split them and top two qualify for semi finals !!

I hear that the final score in one of the round 8 games 'raised a few eyebrows' and after an investiagetion the decision was made to have a round of playoffs to decide the 4th place.

Irrespective of that Round 8 result in question, the reason why there is a 5-way play-off is simple:
Under GAA rules (which were amended a few years ago I think), when more than two teams finish level on the same points in a league-format championship, the first criteria used to determine final standings is a play-off.
When only two teams finish level the first criteria is head-to-head between those two teams, and then scoring difference and then scores for as far I as can recall.
It's a bit messy now for a 5-way play-off given that it's late September and that normally (in recent years anyway) that the IHC final is normally played the same day as the SHC final...gonna be tough on the teams involved to be ready for county final day on October 5 given that they will have to play at least two games, three for some.

Joke of a competition. Going on about 10 weeks now and still in this mess! I believe any competition where you lose more than 2 games and can still be in contention should not be called a championship!
