| I'm a Geezer fan (I don't believe he is a god... yet) and a Sam1928 fan (alright Sam!). I want what's best for Kildare and if that mean's me identifying what I would regard as weak spots in selection or team so be it. That doesn't mean I'm less of a supporter than anybody else.
It's not a "I can piss higher" or "I'm a better supporter than you competition" it's about wanting Kildare to win full stop.

| To be fair I think Fionn means people who want him to fail, not people who disagree with his selection.
very county has begrudgers lad, every county has men scorned in some way.

| I think what Fionn means is that there are people on here (not you Stonecold) that do disagree with Geezer's selection policy or tactics and as a result of this hope that they are proved right by seeing Kildare fall.
These people I would imagine represent 2-3% of members of this forum (most know who they are) and probably 2-3% of Kildare Supporters in general.

| Yes Sam1928, I see what you mean, and I agree with and enjoy your posts probably more than any others, and yes everyone has a right to be critical, and McGeeney I'm sure would be the first to agree with that, having admitted his errors publicly on KFM (Louth match for example).
However what fionn meant I believe is that some people are less 'forgiving' than others and wont be slow in calling for Geezers head when things dont go our way. you only have to reflect back to the old forum (RIP) after the Louth defeat - many were hostile to say the least.

| Things can get lost in translation in here.
some lads got what i meant. everyone has opinons on the team or panel. even i think chalky should come in for McLoughlin.
Its people with vested interests for one reason or another wanting McGeeney to fail, of course you can question his tactics or selection. its what being a fan is all about. |

| Does anybody else get sick of all the talk about the future of the manager in the middle of championship football? thats what the silly season is for no?
Laois, micklow, galway mayo etc can afford to talk bullsh1t about their managers and what they did/do wrong, who should come in yada yada yada....cos they are out of the champ, WE arent!
we have three things that we should be worrying about for saturday, kildares 15-20 lads, monaghan, and where we are celebrating after. management jibberish can wait til september!

Monaghan and Kildare meet for the first time ever in the Qualifiers and the first time in the Championship since their All-Ireland semi-final clash in 1930.
It may be a novel pairing but there will be one face on the sidelines on Croke Park that will be familiar to both camps. Paul Grimley was with the Kildare set-up in 2008 and 2009 before linking with up with Monaghan to become Seamus McEnaney's number two this year.
Grimley insists that his work with the Lilywhites will count for little, which is a sentiment Kildare full-forward Ronan Sweeney agrees with.
Monaghan have a huge task ahead of them if they are to bounce back from their ten-point Ulster final defeat to Tyrone last Sunday.
There was much more expected from the Farneymen following their comfortable victories over Armagh and Fermanagh. The line from the Monaghan camp was that Tyrone took a stranglehold on the game after 20 minutes and they couldn't wrestle it back.
But that's not what really happened.
The Red Hands only led by three points at the break in Clones, despite dominating for long periods in the opening 35 minutes. If Monaghan actually believed they could beat Tyrone, then they had every chance of doing so.
One grain of hope for Farney supporters is that their side are unlikely to be overawed by Kildare in the same way.
But the Leinster side are growing into this Championship and last weekend's destruction of Derry up in Celtic Park was their most impressive performance to date.
Kieran McGeeney's men are looking to reach the All-Ireland quarter-finals for the third consecutive year. However his reign has been clouded by a lack of consistency and it will be difficult for the Lilywhites to replicate the display they gave on Foyleside.
Monaghan do have a habit of bouncing back from defeat in the Championship, and they couldn't be as bad as they were last weekend.
Verdict: Monaghan

From the source that brought you the news that Butsy was back in the squad i can tell you as recent as up to 30 mins ago that Grimley stormed away from trainin.Word has it he wanted to start Hanratty but Banty wanted to stick with Gollogly
What do we make of this?
That post seems to be gone form hoganstand |

| We have to be careful here.Keith Barr on the Indo has more or less tipped Monaghan to beat us.The more the week goes on the more nervous I am getting.Monaghan are a good side and will not want last sunday to be their last game in 2010.I have also heard people talking about who we might get in the 1/4 final.I know who I want but again we have to be careful here.I cannot predict this game as it can go either way.Just have to sit on the fence | |

| Peile Better this way.In 1998 , I was in Kavanaghs in Naas the night before the AI final and folk had never heard of Michael Donnellan or Padraic Joyce.Keep it low key but to be honest , deep down I think we will shade it .I will also have my €20 on Smithy to get the first goal. | |

| Maybe i'm just winding yis up, in all honestly it's very hard to know what to expect. It's a lack of motivation v exhaustion, or is it pride v momentum. It's really hard to call this one for me, although logic would point to yourselves. | |
