| This is an utter shambles. Not one player looks like they have improved in the last 2 years. Some look worse. | |

| Laois 4-03 Kildare 0-08. 35 mins gone.
The write of passage from prommissing underage footballer to obscurity almost complete for these bunch of Kildare u21s/u20s.
Someone bolt the door on the way out of St Conleths.

| A less than fully fit Brian McLoughlin saved the day. Half of his team mates wouldn't walk into a darkened room without him leadin the way. If Laois hadn't waited until injury time to use more than 2 subs, they would have held on. | |

| Was at this. Interested to see if there is some hope left or whether Kildare football had definitively gone over a cliff. Saw Ronan Sweeney talking outside on his mobile on the way in, looking like a worried man.
Sometime after Laois scored their fourth goal and went 9 points up, I had resigned myself to yet another promising group of Kildare footballers slowly imploding. I was slumped in my seat, and feeling pissed off with life - and then, I honestly don't know what the hell happened.
McLoughlin came on and played brilliantly, and looked like a man amongst boys, and the rest of them seemed to rediscover a bit of passion in playing for Kildare after 40 minutes of extreme mediocrity.
When McLoughlin and Hyland knocked over the winning scores I celebrated more than was probably strictly merited - it's the first time I've seen a Kildare team win in 12 months. Like most Kildare teams of recent times (even the trophy-winning underage ones), they regularly leave a prairie of space in front of the full back line.
But honestly I'm just relieved and happy we won - particularly in the context of a sizeable and vocal Laois support clearly revelling in our misery as a county. It was very harsh on their team, who deserved something from the game, but our boys did show the kind of passion - and at times desperation - sadly lacking in the senior team recently.

| Serious amount of talent underage in Kildare. Bringing it through and continuing to develop it seems to be an issue | |

| If we ever actually got a senior manager with real tactical nous and the ability to get the best out of players, we'd be dangerous. However, I am increasingly despairing that such a man can be found. | |

| Brilliant win absolutely delighted with the win a bit of positivity in the county after the shite yesterday. Hopefully the seniors look at that and learn something. | |

Bit harsh. After the last 12 months just delighted to see a Kildare team not caving in. And winning a close game. It was their first time out and against a decent Laois team.

| Great comeback lads - god knows the county needed a lift after yesterday. Hopefully we can iron out the defensive problems for the next match. | |

That'll be a tough one. No tougher than Carlow at senior which is of course the measure of such things now and for some time to come!
