Lads I don't even know what to say, incredible weekend from heading down to Kerry Friday morning and seeing us play great stuff in the first half and then getting robbed of a man. Yesterday we destroyed Mayo if we won by 8 or 9 they couldn't have complained, like many it was the first time I've seen us win an all Ireland and it was a wonderful feeling I watched it again on tg4 and I got goosebumps listening to Masterson's speech.

Team has massive potential and with the seniors not too far away from the likes of Galway and Monaghan the future is bright. A full forward line of Jimmy Hyland, Dan and Neil is gonna make teams shite themselves. Was talking to a few of them last night and they seem like incredibly genuine lads. Buzzing for them they have made history and I hope to god they enjoy the week. I hope you guys had a brilliant day as well they don't come very often lads. Hon the Lilies.

In a lot of ways this summer has been ludicrous, preposterous and I'm still processing it.

Faced down the GAA establishment and beat the number one pretenders to the Dubs' throne in one of the most badass moves in GAA history.

Then the U20s come along and win the All Ireland, blowing away Dublin, Kerry & Mayo playing champagne football that would remind you of Barcelona under Guardiola.

Rewind two months and they were nine points down to Laois with 20 minutes left (I honestly still don't know how we won that). The previous day we'd been subjected to a historic humiliation by Carlow.

Miracles do happen!

Lads - check out Woodgate's passes for McLouglin's goal & Hyland's second point.

Forget about it. I'm serious. Just fucking FORGET ABOUT IT.

SCANDALOUS stuff.

Looked back at it last night and im going to reassess - That first half was the greatest performance of score taking from any Kildare team ive ever seen.

Outstanding achievement - This team plays better the bigger the occasion.

Well done all. All Ireland Champs Woo Hoo !!

Class game all round and as Highball says, the firsr half the scores were just awesome.
Really well coached team that allows the natural finishers to be on the ball in the exact right time to pull the trigger.
The little dinked passes and interplay up front were great. Mayo were always going to come back, but by God they were given a gentle helping budge at times.
I was on the Hill and a few clean hands on the ball/ blocks were frees.

I know the young lad Flynn lost the plot, but he completely took out Dempsey (I think it was) in the first half under the Cusack in a blatant black card and nothing was done.

Look we won't dwell on that, but they just seem like a great honest group and a lad like Hyland doesn't strike you as a lad who thinks he is God's gift either.

A fully fit Kevin Feely, Neil Flynn and two or three of these boys thrown into the mix and the future looks White!

On your fact checking HG... Think you might be incorrect..

From what I can see , Mayo won Minor in 2013, 1985 and 1978.

Under 21 winners in 2016 , 2006 and 1983

So their record isn't as horrendous as thought - My minor bit of sympathy for them has flown out the window.

KE win the under achievement title so Smile

Not these lads though, well done all

Imagine if this management team had been in charge of the 2013 U21 team. I guarantee you we wouldn't have kicked 19 wides against Galway and would have played a far better style of football.
Watched the game again yesterday and agree some of the passing and scoring was as good as I've ever seen. Some of Mayo fans near me were looking at each other in disbelief.
Let's all enjoy the club championship now and hopefully the feel good factor will feed in and encourage some exciting football and maybe throw up a new prospect or two.

Was there a problem with the forum yesterday? I added a brilliant post but it's not showing up. Seriously lads it was an amazing piece of writing!

Anyway, the forwards on this team are exciting but Let's not forget Mark Dempsey. He's a teenager whose won a Leinster and an all-Ireland U20 but also a Leinster club title marking Leighton Glynn out of the game and keeping John Heslin scoreless from play in the final. Impressive to say the least.

Murof totally agree re 2013 team.

Highball you read my post incorrectly - I said Croke Park national finals in the past 30 years. They have won 1 in 23 - that is a fact.

Bangloeir dead right about Dempsey he is a brilliant defender. Barrett beside him also superb. Serious quality in every line of this team and also on the bench.

Point taken HG - I thought your post was pointing out how bad their all Ireland success rate was as opposed to their Croke Park hoodoo

As they have multiple underage titles in the past 30 years and they have won multiple Connaught senior titles and many "top" games in croke park at senior level I still contend our record of underachievement is worse Smile

Sunday changes the dial a little bit Smile

Still buzzing about it especially the manner of how they dismantled the big three in the last few weeks.

I'm not slagging them off – I think they are a brilliant football county and have TOTALLY put us to shame in how they've competed with Dubs in recent years – but you have to admit it is an utterly bizarre and slightly macabre record.

Do genuinely love that 2011-2018 team and at the end of the day, they will be Div 1 again next year and we won't.

Amazing performance and achievement last Sunday, they play a lovely brand of football and unusually for a Kildare team generally take good options while in possession.

The next step for both the players themselves and Kildare as a county is obviously the most difficult in terms of turning this into senior success but that is for another day/week. For now it is important the players enjoy this achievement.

Great achievement... well done to one and all.... truly deserved and shows that hard work and honesty will get you a long way with a talented mix of different types of players... big support from Kildare....
How many of this group are underage again next year?

I think only 2/3 are underage next year one of them is Aaron O Neill who I reckon has a very good chance of being the senior keeper next year which would make him ineligible.

Well done to team, panel, mentors and backroom staff, some achievement in beating all the big guns on way to victory. The first 20 minutes of football was breath taking and so efficient with right options taken at all times. Masterson fielding,Paddy Woodgate's passing and Hyland finishing something else. McLoughlin's goal was a top drawer, went for it when he had a yard on full back and placed shot to corner. We tried to defend lead in second half and only scored 5 points all from Jimmy Hyland, but who cares, Kildare first name on New Cup. Kildare wide counts and kicks drop short less than 10 (first time ever for a kildare team, I reckon)
Re what Taibi and Kelf said about McLoughlin black card incident, I would love if there was a citing commissioners in GAA and Kildare could call out Mayo No 6 ,as opponents head in leg lock is only allowed in MMA and going after mouth with fingers is red card. Newbridge or Nowhere probably cost Kildare some decisions but who cares seniors showed up in 3.5 games afterwards and 20's won All Ireland.
