| Pot 'A' :
Laois Roscommon Fermanagh Cork
Pot 'B'
Kildare Monaghan Tyrone Armagh
Fermanagh can't draw either Monaghan or Armagh as they have played them already in the Ulster championship so that could narrow down the options for Kildare.

| So our chances of meeting Fermanagh are greatly increased? Really anyone other than Roscommon is a good draw. Actually think it's a very poor list of provincial losers this year. Although last year we couldn't beat Armagh so who knows! | |

| Neutral and cannot be Croke Park. Laois in Tullamore would do just fine. Although far tougher match, still cannot stop thinking that if we beat Cork we will be due to play Dublin at home, but the CCCC do have final say on that via rulebook. Be fascinating. Although one game at a time. | |

| If any of the 4 winners from yesterday win through to the Super 8s, they will end up playing 5 weekends in a row. The first 2 rounds of the Super 8s are on the 2 weekends after next weekend's 4th Round qualifiers - there is a break between the second and third series of games.
Huge advantage to the Provincial winners who will be well rested - 4 weeks for Galway and 3 weeks for the 3 others

| Looking at the below it appears that the qualifiers for the super 8's will play each other in Croke Park and will have one home game against a provincial winner and one away game against a provincial winner, just saying:
Super 8 Group One
Teams: Kerry, Galway, Fermanagh or round four qualifier, Laois or round four qualifier.
Phase 1 July 14/15
Kerry vs Galway @ Croke Park
Fermanagh/Rd. 4 qualifier vs Laois/Rd. 4 qualifier @ Croke Park
Phase 2 July 21/22
Fermanagh/Rd. 4 qualifier vs Galway
Laois/Rd. 4 qualifier vs Kerry
Phase 3 August 4/5
Kerry vs Fermanagh/Rd. 4 qualifier
Galway vs Laois/Rd. 4 qualifier
Super 8 Group Two
Teams: Donegal, Dublin, Cork or round 4 qualifier, Roscommon or round four qualifier.
Phase 1 July 14/15
Dublin vs Donegal @ Croke Park
Cork/Rd. 4 qualifier vs Roscommon/Rd. 4 qualifier @ Croke Park
Phase 2 July 21/22
Cork/Rd. 4 qualifier vs Dublin
Roscommon/Rd. 4 qualifier vs Donegal
Phase 3 August 4/5/6
Donegal vs Cork/Rd. 4 qualifier
Dublin vs Roscommon/Rd. 4 qualifier

Is that a certainty ? If so Fermanagh in Navan

| So Kildare will be in a mini draw first this morning. Fermanagh will be kept out of the provincial bowl and Kildare and Monaghan will be in a separate bowl. One will be drawn out to play Fermanagh and the other will go in with other 2 qualifier teams for the rest of the draw.
GAA - make it up as they go along

| Kildare v Fermanagh
Could be worse but we've struggled against teams that get everybody behind the ball (like Carlow)

| Now you'll know if there's progress made. If they're patient, don't wait for it to happen but make it happen, drive at them and stick tight to the Quigleys, win any few frees from 50m in, they'll win. Kildare have every bit if not more athleticism than Kildare so they have the tools. Just shed the expectation that you'll rock up and win, go with the knowledge it'll be a bitch of a day and they have to make it happen, and they should win. Believe the hype and it could be a horror. I'm sure they won't fall into the latter trap.
If you'd have been offered this after Carlow, you'd be ecstatic. What an opportunity.

| Will be a battle, no easy games left now. Remember what happened a week later after the euphoria of beating Donegal in 2001. | |

| The wife for my sins is from Donegal so I was up at the Ulster Final last weeks ago.
Fermanagh play very much like Carlow albeit not to the same extreme but it is against these types of teams we struggle. We need Feely operating at midfield for this one and gain an advantage there, get the ball in quick and not allow them to get back in time. Other than that it's about getting runners off the shoulder, like Fergal and Paul Cribbin were doing Saturday to punch holes down the middle of them. Apart from the two Quigley's they don't hold much of a scoring threat upfront..
Navan probably I imagine will it?

| I was scratching my head wondering what happened. To make matters worse Sligo had a man sent off early enough. Armagh Galway was on before us. | |

| I think Fermanagh game is going to be very difficult. We kicked the shite out of them in league last year but they are a much tougher and more organised prospect under Gallagher & McMenamin.
Plus we're coming in on a tidal wave of hype which Kildare teams generally don't back up. This Kildare side is capable of brilliance but they still have to prove that, like Mayo, they have the mental toughness to keep getting results over a long period - and that includes grinding out results in close games, not something this team is renowned for.
I honestly think Carlow did us a favour - they taught us a lesson about aggression & competitveness, and about life. It's notable that in the three games since, the Kildare defence have started beating up their opponents before the ball was throw in. It sets a good tone.
If we have that sort of focus & application in this game, we have a decent chance.

| If we beat Fermanagh our Super 8 matches are: Game 1 - Laois or Monaghan (Croke Park) Game 2 - Galway (Home) Game 3 - Kerry (Away) | |

| Navan I'd say with Brefni Park closed.
Kildare, Monaghan, Tyrone and Roscommon to come trough.
Kildare 4/9. Fermanagh 5/2. Draw 8/1.
