| Just as tough as you would expect. Monaghan have huge emphasis on cancelling out Conway. How Mone hasn't got a card is beyond me. We are switched off to restarts. Too many mistakes and turnovers like prior to mayo game. We can still do it though as off form but only 2 in it but needs massive improvement and effort | |

| Reverted to type. Weather doesn't suit what we want to do but if we're good enough we'll find a way. Can't let Moanaghan get a good start. They fell over the line v Laois and have their own Croke Park demons if we stick with them. | |

| A couple of wrong decisions near to goal and we could be up a few points. Here’s hoping for a good last 10 mins. Still in our hands. Monaghan may be tiring | |

| Most frustrating game I've seen in an age. Just cannot get ahead. Not playing well and still loads of chances. | |

| We left that behind us. Much like the league some poor choices at key times. Great effort again but cuteness by Monaghan and a little naivety and we could have taken it | |

| Sh*te anyway. Was there for taking when level for an age and we did everything wrong in terms of decision-making and in terms of technicality. Defence couldn't have done much more but Conway wrapped up, Paddy Brophy not good, Dan Flynn offered nothing after the goal, Niall Kelly brought little. Only Neil Flynn a threat in there with Cribbin and Healy worked hard for not a lot. | |

| So frustrating. Absolutely left that behind us. Decision making by the forwards in particular was brutal. Christ I hate that place, | |

| Reverted to type unfortunately when faced with a hard tackling team. Brophy was awful and is living on his reputation this year so far. Long enough watching Paul Cribben to know if he doesn't start a game well then take him off. Healy, Slattery and Callaghan contributed far more in the time they were on. Sadlly on that evidence we have no business in a semi final against Dublin. Concentrate now on winning Galway game. But most of all win the U20 final and get some of those players on board next year. | |

| When lads don't want to get injured that is usually the result.
Hustle but no muscle. Coughing up the ball. Kicking wides.

| Listening to Niall Carew afterwards and he was blaming the ref, the weather, Croke Park blah blah blah...
Not why we lost this. Beaten a better, more experienced team who showed more composure on the ball and were sharper upfront.
At the elite level, this Kildare team is still not mentally tough enough. And if they want to get to that level, they'd better start winning in Croke Park because that's the name of the game in Leinster finals and the All Ireland series.
Overall, a missed opportunity (again).

| The energy levels of last 2 games missing. Too much ball brought into contact. Couldn't cope with the cynical play and defensive system. I wouldn't give up on them yet. Get back on the horse next weekend and take it from there | |

| Definitely not giving up - too much exciting stuff happening in Kildare football - but we need to start winning big games in Croke Park.
Never once heard Mayo whinge about the venue over last five or six years. Really top teams produce it there on the big occasion. We've made serious progress under O'Neill but we're still not top four.
In any event, let's go at Galway next week & see where that takes us.

| Frustrated more than disappointed with that result and performance. Monaghan did just enough to win and that seems to be the way they approached it. We kicked a lot of wides (and so did Monaghan to be fair) and we turned over so much possession. It feels like one that got away. We never had the spark we had the last 2 games. I think we should have made changes earlier - Brophy hasn't played well in a long time and for a guy his size, makes little or no impression in a game and at the moment poses no scoring threat. Unfortunately a number of other players had off days today, more than we could cope with
But looking at the bigger picture, Monaghan won't threaten anyone and they'll never win an All Ireland playing their anti-football. They're an old aging team while we have a young team but some excellent prospects coming through. We'll get better in the next couple of years - Monaghan won't.
And this season isn't over yet. Go out now and beat Galway and make the game in Kerry count for something.

Is it really? It's opened the group up now. Kerry were hyped up after 2 facile victories in Munster. They now have to go to Clones next weekend and get something.

| Wins for Monaghan & Galway... So much for the death of defensive football. If Tyrone beat the Dubs next week Brolly's head will explode. | |

| Galways loss does hurt us in that we will now have to go to Killarney and win. If Galway lost, one win might have been enough along with a decent score difference. 2 wins are needed now.
On today’s game, we did a decent job of stopping McManus but Karl O Connels runs from deep hurt us, I think he scored 3 points from play and was probably the best player on the field.
We had chances to get something though, just weren’t clinical enough in front of goal.
Galway will be full of confidence now and will be very hard to beat in Newbridge. Their defensive structure is hard to break down. Shane Walsh is playing very well and Comer and Ian Burke are a handful for any defense.

We will face it again next Sunday in Newbridge. And on a tighter pitch......

| 2 chances at the end when we looked to have went for goal instead of 2 easy points were massive, if we stuck them over who knows what would have happened...Left the game behind us. Backs did well, forwards didn't take chances, Dan Flynn would have burned Drew Wylie for pace all day long if we gave him decent ball...Have to beat Galway and Kerry now either way it's a massive learning curve and only going to help our year young team. Hon the fucking Lilies!! | |

| Just to naive again. Almost a carbon copy if the league game. Bringing the ball in to contact and stupid frees conceded killed us. After Mayo and Fermanagh I thought that the habit of trying to burst through three opposition players was gone but nope he we were again trying to bull through. Crazy. We were lethargic and the wet conditions played straight into Monaghan arms. I must of counted on 4 separate occasions we tried to pick the ball up only for it to squirt away. Hand passes being played in front and sliding away on the wet pitch instead of to the man on at least 3 occasions. It all adds up in a very tight game. It was infuriating as there was so much more in them. A few players who shall remain nameless went missing again in Croke Park. It's not the first time or even the third time that has happened. It just sucks the life out of all the momentum. A very disappointing day and one we will regret for a long time. | |

| Just to lay it on the line...
The Dubs have a ridiculous advantage playing constantly in Croker - in addition to finances & resources - and that's a battle we will continue to fight tooth & nail.
But if we want to be a top Div 1 county, we need to start winning there regularly. It's that simple.
It's probably the next big hurdle Kildare football needs to overcome. Meantime onwards to next weekend, as well as the Leinster minor final & U20 All Ireland final.

| Since first arriving under Geezer at the start of 2013, this team has played 16 times in Croke Park. A grand total of ONE win against a top side - league game against Donegal in 2013.
Otherwise all we have to our "credit" are wins v the mighty trio of Louth, Offaly & Wexford.
No getting around it - an absolutely atrocious record.
