What stage is the Junior A championship at now ?.. and why is it so far behind the other Grades ?.
Junior has one round of group games to go. Then some teams have to play quarter finals before the semis and final. So technically, 4 games left for some teams.

The right decision to cancel club league games. Hopefully the remaining club championship games can still be played out. Would be for the best if it’s played behind closed doors.

Club championships can be played at Level 3, it's the Gaa that have stopped them.

It would be great if the remaining championships could be played. When will it be possible though? Today’s increase in cases, 1012, could lead to further restrictions. I think we will be back in level 5 eventually. Government probably waiting for October midterm as schools would be off anyway.

Where did you see that? Is that how long the new restrictions are planned to be in place?

That's what was announced by Michael Martin last night, he also stated that club championships are no longer exempt in Level 3 restrictions.

I think the county board should postpone the remaining county championships until February 2021. It's so unfair on the players still training only to be pushed back every 2 weeks or so.
Move it to February next year and let these teams wind down now and restart training in January 2021 if possible then.

This decision has to happen and happen now. Cant have players hanging around and training for games/competitions that are not in reality going to happen for the foreseeable future. Currently all Clubs are only a covid case away from having to shut down anyway. Postpone the games until Spring and bring some certainty. Hopefully by then we can have spectators back at the games also.

I completely agree with the above, I suspect that we may be looking at split seasons next year anyway with club getting the first half of the year as I would imagine the GAA will want to give every opportunity to have 80,000 people at both All-Ireland finals next year which would mean delaying it as long as feasibly possible.

Never thought of that Topcat........you could be right. I know all the split season proposals have county first and then club but I hope that club get's first dibs on players like this year and then the inter-county in Autumn. That would be brilliant.

I think the Junior and Minor football championships and possibly the hurling could be played in February and I'd say its unlikely to interfere with any inter county squad training either ( except the senior hurling final ) which helps more it more possible.
Currently we have numerous teams still training, maybe as many 20 teams, approx. 400 players, with little or no chance of playing before Christmas. Is this a risk worth continuing.

The County Board needs to show leadership and make the right decision here. Playing and Training in a vacuum at the present time is not right. Not knowing what is going on from one day to the next is no way to proceed. Call it now and give players and spectators something to look forward to in Spring. Putting players and their families at risk is not the way to go. Lets just do what is right and sensible so we can enjoy our great gaelic games in 2021.

Most of my playing life I was training in a vacuum... not knowing when championship would be! In the early days there was even a lot of uncertainty about league fixtures!!
Different reasons now but same issue and its horrible and totally unfair on players and management....
Show some leadership is right but will they??

Wexford GAA has confirmed that there have been six positive cases between their senior hurling and football panels.
Both panels were tested at the Ferns Centre of Excellence on Monday evening, with results arriving by early on Tuesday afternoon.
Tests for four senior footballers and two senior hurlers came back positive.
Time to stop this madness before it gets worse and the GAA becomes a laughing stock.
