Fair play! I'm holding back on publishing my chart online as I'm unsure about the format yet. I've heard it's one down from Div. 2 and three up to make a 12 team league and I'm wondering is it the same from 3 to 4?

No idea but I think that's going to be a disaster and will lead to pointless hidings.

Sorry, I meant one down from 2 and three up from three. I think there are probably three teams in Div. 4 (Milltown, Nurney, Suncroft) that wouldn't be out of place in Div. 3 but that's it.

Just told that to facilitate 12 teams in Div. 1,2 and 3 next year and an 8 team Div. 4 they are doing the following for 2023:
Div. 1: Bottom 2 relegated Div. 2: Top two promoted and bottom team relegated. Div. 3: Top three promoted and no relegation Div. 4: Top 4 promoted.

Anyone know if they are splitting Division 3? Seems pointless with no relegation but by all accounts Div. 2 and 3 are being split again. Good chance of there only being 7 or even 6 teams in Division 4 next year.

Yes I had thought about that, little point in the split other than giving the teams a few extra matches before championship.
Div 3 especially will have lots of dead rubbers from around midway through the league involving teams not in promotion contention, not ideal.

Have we any predictions for league winners with the leagues starting at the weekend?
Possibly looking at a few cancellations this weekend given the weather we experienced and what is still expected.

Hard to look past Celbridge for Division 1 but it will be seriously competitive. Clane, Naas, Sash and Athy will all be seriously strong.
Division 2 Pick from Maynooth, Kilcock and possibly Eadestown as an outside bet.
Division 3 Ballyteague, Caragh or Kevins
I do think there is going to be a serious glut of fixtures to get through in April especially in the underage with all of the cancellations. Be great if we had an all weather 4G pitch in Hawkfield.

Have to agree. Think celbridge will be mad to get silverware . Can see them winning the league. Championship will be interesting. Can naas do the 3 in a row. Realistically , sarsfields, celbridge and naas are a fair bit ahead of the chasing pack lead by Athy. Looking forward to the club action after watching the garbage over the last few weeks by our county team.

Naas more than capable of doing 3 in a row for sure. Who would the outsiders be?
Maynooth Clane Raheens
Club is great. It's where it's all at. I'd love to see the county players released for 2 or 3 rounds before the Leinster Championship. I think it would do everyone the world of good.

Forgot about clane. If they can build on last year , will be a match for anyone. Brian mc loughlin obviously a huge loss if he is away.

He will be but Fanning has another year of developing in him and this stage. I wouldn't rule a return for McLoughlan though if they reach the quarters.

Problem with Celbridge in the league is they are missing all their county players. This year they have a couple of the Under 20s back that were missing last year.

Brophy and Conway will be available though unlike recent years and Aaron Browne will be solely concentrating on them. The brother isn't bad either if they have him for the league.

Went to Naas v Athy. Kind of went as expected with Naas having such a young team out and Athy with plenty of experienced heads. Athy defending en masse for the second half and hitting them on the counter. Ferocious hits coming in from the Athy men. Niall Kelly different gravy altogether. Some of those young Naas defenders have real promise.

Clane v JTB myself. 3-08 to 2-10. Cracking game of ball. Huge crowd at it. Clane looked to be cruising winning by 5 or so with 10 minutes left but JTB came back at them.

Yes split in Div. 2 & 3 as they would only have nine games. So good chance the botttom group in Div. 3 will all be dead rubbers but the top half in it will have three of the five going up.

Bottom half in Div 3 now have a "3B" cup to play for. Top two into the final.
