Attended Leixlip vs Castledermot in Raheens. Credit to the club for the excellent playing surface. Castledermot were superior in the first half (supported by a slight wind), soaking up Leixlip attacks and countering effectively. They didn't kick on with this advantage, however, and paid the price as Leixlip improved in the second half to tie things up late on. My main takeaway from the clash between two of the favourites being that Intermediate is wide open once again.
As an aside, there were three cynical, intentional fouls shared between the teams that appeared to be black card offences to me which were instead awarded as yellows. Consistency on the black card sorely lacking at club level.
my guess here is that you like so many don`t know the black card rules. cynical fouls are not black cards
You don't really have a clue what warrants a black card do you. donnellyshollow is spot on. A cynical foul is a black card as stated below from the GAA rule book
Category II Infractions – Cynical Behaviour 5.10 To deliberately pull down an opponent. 5.11 To deliberately trip an opponent with hand(s), arm, leg or foot. 5.12 To deliberately collide with an opponent after he has played the ball away or for the purpose of taking him out of the movement of play. 5.13 To remonstrate in an aggressive manner with a Match Official.. PENALTY FOR THE ABOVE FOULS - (i) Order the offender off by showing him a Black Card.
the 5 rules for black card are very distinct and non of them say a cynical foul is a black card. I could pull the jersey off my opponent who is through on goal (cynical foul) and I won't get a black card because I didn't pull him down. wasting time is a cynical foul again no black card. Maybe it's you who hasn't a clue

Draw for junior championship.
Milltown and Robertstown straight into semi final.
Quarter final- Grange vs kill. Winner plays Milltown in semi final. Quarter final- Rathcoffey vs Athgarvan. Winner plays Robertstown in semi final.
Imagine the winner of Milltown vs Grange/Kill will be hot favourites.
Rathcoffey not to be discounted based on results from the group stage

Agree with Centreback regarding black card. That said, there are refs who are on the side of “any cynical foul and I’ll show the black” which may well add to peoples misunderstanding.

100%, Rathcoffey very organised and very fit. Just feel like the other side of the draw seems a bit stronger. Grange/ Kill 2 tough matches under the belt if they do make a final

Thats cat. I thought the ref had to bring umpires with him.

We are struggling for refs, never mind umpires. Host clubs have been asked to provide these. Its hardly disgraceful. Id be more concerned about lack of neutral linesmen at county finals.

It’s not that atall. They’re sending refs to do the line on senior games in clubs, they send them to the occasional intermediate game too but more intermediate games and junior games clubs are being asked to supply linesmen and umpires, the clubs playing were asked to do the line in sarsfields Sunday. It’s pure penny pinching, the refs will tell you that themselves, saving €100 not sending linesmen to games. Whatever about umpires referees would usually have their own teams and you’ll see as championship goes on they will.

I totally disagree with the clubs providing their own umpires, I have been there and done that at league games and its beyond a joke what some 'umpires' will give as points, balls that are 2 or 3 foot wide, really unfair on the players who train all year for that to happen.

How many people here would volunteer to go to a neutral game and do a umpire? That's what some people are advocating for.

''I totally disagree with the clubs providing their own umpires'
The umpires are neutral, its the host ground who have been providing them.

This is not the case in some games the 2 clubs playing have been asked to provide 1 umpire each as the ref only had 2 umpires available in the junior champ this has happened and i heard it happened in a senior game with moorefield too. Im not blaming referees btw its scandilous that they have to provide umpires for nothing there should be a payment for these umpires giving up their free time to volunteer.

Usually giving up your free time to volunteer means you dont get paid Agree that they should be provided but I do know host clubs have been aaked and have provided neutral umpires in most cases.

I am only aware of clubs providing 2 umpires foe games that are played before theirs. So they are neutral. It's a pain but I personally thinks it's OK.

That's never happened. Clubs don't and won't provide umpires in Hawkfield or Newbridge. They should 100 percent ensure though that when their ground is used that umpires and linesman are provided.

It has happened loads of times this year so far especially in senior championship. Refs only coming with 2 umpires & asking clubs to provide the other 2. Carbury, Moorefield, Larries , Clogs, Raheens, kilcock have all supplied umpires during their championship matches.

That's not what the post was about though. It was saying that clubs playing at 16:30 for example would provide 2 umpires for a game at 15:00. That's a great idea but just doesn't happen.
Absolutely some refs haven't brought a full quota of neutral umpires to championship games this year but where does the blame lie? It's hard to get refs and then asking them to bring 4 lads with them for maybe 10 weeks in a row just isn't on.

So it looks like Sarsfields must win by 6 points to go through? 7 points or more guarantees it. And Athy are going thru unless Sarsfields beat Naas by exactly 6 points and Athy lose to Naas by at least 6 points ?

Not so sure, if Athy, Sarsfields and Maynooth all finished on 2 points is the points difference only calculated on the games between those 3 teams only and excluding Naas.
