| May as well start the thread now I guess.
Not a bad draw for us.

Why are you expecting your sense of humour back then?

| Probably to best draw we could have hoped for, however I think this will be hard enough particularly if we pick up any injuries against Dublin. I think 50/50 at best. | |

| Ah Jesus how many times this year are people going to big up Offaly against us.. Happened at minor and under 21 already. I doubt any bookie will make it 50/50. If we can't beat Offaly on any pitch in Ireland (particularly if McNamee can't play as I read over the week end) we should give up altogether. I know we're both in Div 3 next year but we've at more recent pedegree.. Their win against Waterford (yes Waterford) was their first championship win in 4 years. | |

| Do we get home advantage for this as we won our first round game? We also got drawn away last year to Down. | |

I don't think so. Looks like we've been drawn away so it will be off to Tullamore again... Round 2A Football Qualifier draw (All games will take place on Saturday, July 4th) Fermanagh v Antrim Offaly v Dublin/Kildare loser Clare v Longford Cavan v Roscommon

| Think it said first team drawn had home advantage so that would be Tullamore. I know some will say its defeatist talking about this game rather than a Leinster final but the reality is we are well off Dublins pace at the moment. The big worry would be the short interval to the next game as its inevitable we will pick up knocks against Dublin. I'm sure the players will focus totally on Sundays game and lets hope Jason is not tempted to say something silly in the next week. | |

If so, it's you that needs a sense of humour. You could have at least put Offaly v Kildare/Dublin.

Moron. Nice.. Don't read the thread if it's going to upset your day so much. It was obvious from the title what it concerned. I don't think I've ever resorted to calling long-term posters abusive names on this forum. I've strongly questioned opinions and even on this thread had a go about people bigging up the likes of Offaly. But I won't resort to name calling. Admin feel free to delete the thread if it is as upsetting to the majority as it is to two people on here.

| It doesn't offend me Crofter - I just think that in a week leading up to two Kildare teams playing in Croke Park, we have enough to be discussing. Leave the defeatist, pessimistic, rhetoric to Jayson Rhine (or whatever he/she is going by this week) | |

| Cavan and Roscommon drawing each other is good for us as well, means the round 3 draw should be decent too, provided we avoid the winner of that match, all other teams operated out of Division 3 or Division 4 this year.
With a bit of luck draw Sligo in round 4 and we are back to a quarter final!!

| Sligo beat Kildare a week or two before the first Laois game. Kildare are in a much better place now you'd like to think and if going in off a couple of wins and Sligo coming off a provincial final loss, it wouldn't be the worst alright. Nor would the Leinster final loser, if that's possible. | |

| Poor Crofter, couple of lads are awful sensitive. How could we possibly mention one of the most important pieces of news to Kildare fans all year when we've a game most accept we'll lose by 10-20 points in a week. I'm blaming Crofter taking the players' eyes off Leinster if we don't walk it on Sunday.
Anyway, Offaly in Tullamore, I cringe at lads talking a tough game. I know Roscommon showed you cannot overlook any opponent (especially one that put 1-19 on Armagh in a thumping in last league game) but that doesn't mean you can't be highly confident, no matter what level we are operating at. It's Offaly ffs, they are putrid, let's go out, play to our level and that's that, they'll be stuffed. Even with the short turnaround, given the draw this should excite us no matter what Dublin do to us and we should eat them up and spit them out. Looking ahead at what the year could pan out like while taking each game on its merits and not saying we won't fall (hope I don't get the Crofter treatment for that), it likely plays out like this although always twists and turns:
Last 24 Offaly v Kildare
Last 16 Kildare v Clare/Longford, Fermanagh/Antrim, Cavan/Roscommon (I'd take them in that order)
Last 12 Kildare v Cork/Kerry/Meath/Westmeath (Has to be Munster or Leinster final losers on our side)
Quarter-Final Kildare v Dublin/Cork/Kerry (Probably realms of fantasy at this point but just for continuity)
