30/01 v Kerry (Home, 13:45) 06/02 v Donegal (Away, 14:30) 20/02 v Tyrone (Away, 15:45) 27/02 v Dublin (Home, 13:45) 12/03 v Armagh (Away, 18:00) 20/03 v Monaghan (Home, 14:30) 27/03 v Mayo (Carrick on Shannon, 13:45)
3 home, 3 away, 1 neutral. Cork relegated on 6 points in 2016 whilst 4 points kept Monaghan up in 2019 so hard to know what we'll be looking for to avoid relegation.
Presumably we'll be forced to accommodate Dublin season ticket holders before any tickets can be made available to clubs or put on general sale...

Don’t be surprised if they try and move the Dublin game… they have form for that.

What's Newbridge capacity these days. Cause attendance will be capped at 5,000 or 50 per cent of capacity, whichever is lower! Can't see that disappearing for first four games at least.

I think the official capacity for Newbridge for the Newbridge or Nowhere debacle was something around the 5,000 mark. This would mean only 2,500 would be allowed for home games in current restrictions.

I didn't think it was that low, for Mayo game, I thought it was 8000 or so ?
It's a tough schedule no doubt. You would think Donegal away is a key game we have to get a result in. It's a lot of bloody travelling too to away games !!!

It will come back to the usual crap, health & safety, which hasn't been mentioned in St Conleth's for the last few years, will again 'kick in', limit the capacity to 4,000 and then move the match to Croke Park.
What was the official attendance for the county final ??

More than 8,200 at county final with space still available at Kilcullen end
Jack O Connor has named a very strong Kerry team for Mcgrath Cup this weekend. He must be tuning up Man United for the trip to Newbridge.

First 4 games are wickedly tough... The last 3 will make or break the league season. Would need a minimum of 5 to have a chance i would have thought. If we got something from the first 4 it would be a great result.
All about the performances.

Would disagree to an extent re. It’s all about the performance.. we’ve been her before, competed, lost and fell back to old ways of uncompetitiveness. I’d like to see the odd scrappy win, at any cost. Glamorous performances definitely a bonus!

Darragh Kirwan Miss frist few games of league due to calf tear
You can't read too much into the O'Byrne Cup but we do need the likes of Conway, Feely and Neil Flynn back ASAP. This year may not be pleasant viewing as, despite what we often say here, we don't have the players that perform consistently.
At all levels the best teams will deliver around the same style and level of performance and we rarely have a team or individuals to do that.
It will be a steep learning curve but once we show some decent performances it's the main thing at this stage. Even the year we lost to Carlow we had very unlucky in the league in a few games but by the time the championship came around the confidence was shattered.
Who has seen all the games so far? Anyone staking a real claim?

This hits the nail on the head for me.... I'm really hoping to see something different but the Laois game felt all too familiar.
In terms of new players, for me Sargent and Archibald are ready now and Woodgate, Hutchinson, Tuohy and Lawless are to be watched for the future...

I really thought post above re: first few games being behind closed doors might be right but thankfully looks like there will be full capacity. I can imagine a lot of games next weekend will be sell outs as people will be so happy to be able to be back at games.

I am using my powers of deduction to say that Kerry match is on telly. It's unavailable on GAA Go in Ireland...that usually means it's live on RTÉ or TG4.
*I think I am wrong here...

Genuine question lads is O’Callaghan really playing well enough to start midfield against Kerry? I can’t really express an opinion myself because I haven’t seen the OBC games but I have seen him play a few times over the years and would be surprised if he’s improved that much to have the all round game to be a division one standard midfielder

Looks like we’ll have a full house in Newbridge next Sunday thankfully. What a huge test for Glenn and the lads starting out V Kerry, this is where we want to be, playing the best teams week in week out. We have a huge task on our hands to stay up so we really need to target the Monaghan, Donegal & Armagh games. Tyrone might be a little behind schedule for this time of year so it could be a chance to catch them aswell. All in all I have no doubt Newbridge will be packed, first full capacity for a Kildare match in 2 years and it comes against our old manager in division 1, you couldn’t write it really. What way do we see the starting 15? Will the Naas lads be back in? After watching O’Callaghan in the OBC games he looks a good option, very strong and good at breaking the tackle. But division 1 is a different level altogether. Hopefully Feely isn’t too far away. Hoey the other night V Laois struggled in Midfield. Masterson was quiet when he came on too.

Naas haven’t returned back training yet
Doyle might play
Paddy Mac will be playing for Maynooth university on Wednesday in Sigerson cup at moment has lost his sparkle
Bernie definitely out for long time
Kirwan doubt
Kildare needs 3 wins to stay up

I'm not really even bothered about style of football or tactics. What I am interested to see is if Glenn can instill a never say die attitude. No more shadowing players as they run through, no more soft centre. Aggression and a will to push yourself to the edge. I've looked at this team for the last few years and it always looks like they are playing at 70%. Probably Mayo was the only time I thought that is full throttle.
If we can get that it will take us a long way.

100% re: targeting Monaghan, Donegal & Armagh games. It's a shame Monaghan/Armagh are so late in the schedule. We saw last time in Division 1, if you lose a couple od games the confidence starts to drip away. Losing can become a habit. Can't wait for Kerry in front of a full house but Donegal is a bigger game imo. Really have to win that one.
