Minors 2022

Leinster minor championship gets under way this weekend. We're in a 4 team group with Longford, Offaly and Meath.

March 19th away to Offaly
April 2nd home to Longford
April 20th home to Meath (assume Hawkfield if we're not giving up home advantage)

Other groups are Dublin, Laois, Louth and Westmeath and then Carlow, Wexford and Wicklow.

Top team in our group is straight through to the semi finals. 2nd place is into the quarters and 3rd goes into the preliminary quarters.

You'd like to think we'd get at least 4 games out of it, if the schools performances are anything to go by (which they more than likely aren't) then this could be a good group. Panel as of the start of February is as follows;

Well done to the minors on another great win today. Meath up next, Offaly beat Meath today.

Another good win today, responded very well to the black card and Longford drawing level soon afterwards to pull away again towards the end.

2 wins from 2 leaves us guaranteed through to the knockout rounds. Would naively assume that it comes down to head to head rather than score difference if 2 teams are level on the same points which would mean we are straight through to the semi final now after beating both Offaly and Longford, which conversely would also mean that Meath even if they beat us aren't able to make it out of the group now.

Not sure what to expect of Wicklow... A couple of years ago under Kevin O’Brien there were an absolute handful & took us to a replay, even beat Dublin. We shall see this time out.

Offaly bet Laois in the other quarter final so they'll be playing Dublin this Wednesday, obviously improved a fair bit since we played them.

Hard to know what sort of challenge Wicklow will pose. They came from 3 or 4 behind and a man down at one stage to beat Longford 8-6 so have a bit of fight about them anyway.

Hopefully the few weeks break hasn't hampered any momentum the team had after 3 wins on the bounce, great chance to make another final at least and after that anything can happen.

Best of luck to the lads tonight. 3 weeks since the last game while Wicklow are on a roll. We would have been wary of Longford away so for Wicklow to go in there and win was impressive. Can't wait.

Great half of football.

Haven't seen one of our underage teams dominate a game like this since the U21s tore Laois a new one in 2013.

Sinkey and Kelly cleaning up in the middle and good movement in the forwards.

Using the wind advantage very effectively and Wicklow don't look like they have a height advantage if they choose to go long in the second half.

Great performance from the lads tonight. The feel good factor around Kildare GAA continues and we have another provincial final to look forward to!

Three Kildare v Dublin finals would be something.
Great year so far, fingers crossed there is a lot more to come.

If the seniors win on Sunday it will be the first time we were in the three premier Leinster finals in the same year,  senior, U20 and minor. In 2013 we were in the u21,minor and junior finals, winning all three. In 1966 we were in the senor, u21 and junior finals, winning the u21

Fantastic. Throw in the schools performances, the depth of the senior squad and those coming through and we are flying. All about getting a conveyor belt going underneath and becoming more and more competitive with growing confidence at senior. Do that and while there'll always be ups and downs, they'll be at higher and higher levels.

Have to say the minors really impressed me!! Tracking back, hunger, pace, they had it all best of luck lads in the final up the lillies

Brilliant performance full of flair and style, how I like to see Kildare teams play.

Excellent stuff all over the field, but Browne was simply a class apart. He and the brother have long Kildare careers ahead of them if they keep at it.
