Not just the ones from kickable positions...every free from the kildare 45 to midfield has gone sideways and all but 1 from the dublin 45 to 65 had gone backwards after a delay

What a disaster ..After playing so well for the much of the second half. The two goals were so badly defended .Players were sucked to the ball and had no idea were the danger was.. Have to agree that it was the missed frees that really cost us in the end.

Even at 5 points up they didn't look like they were in control.

I know they're kids but fuck me that was awful.
No smarts or composure after we pulled away with 7/8 minutes left.
Didn't know what to do when Dublin pressed us - up till then they were happy to let us carry it forward out of our own 45 but once they pushed up we had no answers.

Youd have to feel for those lads. They're are 16/17 years of age. Some won't have another chance at that level.
The better team lost and they'll have nightmares about that last 5 minutes for a long time. I'd like to tell them thay they'll learn from it, but they probably won't based on it being Kildare. Very disappointing

Also not one of our players at minor, U20 or senior level this year would have kicked the winner that Dublin sub kicked.
Cut in from the sideline, beat a man easily, head up and split the posts with the outside of the boot.
Fuck knows how many hand passes sideways we would have pulled off instead of taking a free shot from 30 odd yards.

Kildare now enter the Tier 2 All Ireland quarter finals ( there will be 4 teams from Leinster in it ), would you be even bothered.

Good preparation for the Tailteann Cup in a few years for them in fairness

Devastated for the players but as a supporter I wouldn’t be getting worked up over 16/17 year olds.
Still for any that do go on to play u20 or senior at least we’re getting them used to toxic online negativity nice and early.

A few of this years 20s did exactly that last year. Lads were unlucky tonight, switched off then panic. Were the better team. Minor football.

Austin Donegan made a huge impact off the bench. Dublin couldn’t handle his pace and he was direct and constantly went forward with the ball. Unfortunately we played too many sidewards and backwards passes, I am always hesitant to criticise young players but surely it was instruction from coaches? Sickening to lose the way we did, very frustrating.

I think these young players, both teams, are been ' coached to death '. Towards the end when both teams actually had to go for it they actually played some good attacking football.
Lads here, criticising a bunch of kids and how they’re coached.
Give me a break. I was at it. They were the better team. It was tight. They made a few mistakes. Such is life.
It’s about developing lads at that age group, not necessarily about winning things. If 3/4 or 5 go on to play senior, that’ll be a better result than beating Dublin in a game that’ll be soon forgotten about.
Minor is about developing and bringing through as many players as possible!
Those young lads will learn from yesterday. So will their management team. I look forward to seeing them as U20 in a few years.

Just to note I did not criticise any players. What I see is players been coached in boring, negative and defensive style of football and the only opportunity that these players had to show their 'skillset and natural ability' was when they were allowed 'play the game freely' when chasing the game.
Lets call a spade a spade, the first 55 minutes of the game was poor, everything was just a routine, as coached.

I think at Senior, U20 and Minor level it's quite obvious there is a pattern of play in all 3. This isn not unique in Kildare. Its across football has a whole really.
I really think we need to get away from this, this is why the appointment of the next Senior Manager is so crucial. We need this, who ever it is to be more than just the Senior manager. We need them to overhaul our whole approach, playing style, S&C, mentality and approach.
It's so vital as it tickles down from the top.

Hard luck to the youngsters. These things will happen. I've mentioned it before numerous times. Our failings aren't at minor level or underage. It's when these lads are in the 18 - 22 age bracket we don't seem to be able to develop them. There is nothing between these Dublin, Kerry and Kildare at this age group. If we can find where we are going wrong then it will go a long way to closing the gap.
