Lynch definitely picked up a knee injury in training tonight. It could have just been a jar, we may wait and see.

I doubt he will feature myself.

Are these eye witness reports or hear say?

Can anyone confirm they saw Lynch get injured and Johnny train?

Sorry now but my nerves are shot and all this rumour will be the death of me!

Hugh Lynch won't play any part in Kildare's All-Ireland football qualifier against Meath tomorrow, despite being named in Kieran McGeeney's starting XV.

The Confey clubman suffered a knee injury in training and his place at midfield is expected to be taken by Darryl Flynn. The news comes as a huge blow to the Lilywhites after Lynch's man of the match performance in last weekend's rout of Laois, which was decorated by three monstrous points from play in the second half.

There are fears that the player may have damaged his cruciate, but this has yet to be confirmed. Kildare have already lost Dermot Earley for the season with a cruciate injury, while Mikey Conway is only just returning from a similar injury after a two-year layoff.

Better news for Kildare is that Lynch's midfield partner against Laois, John Doyle, came through training last night without any problems, having been rated as an injury doubt earlier in the week.

Umpire, its not known yet if it is as serious as a cruciate and being friday evening, we probably won't know untill monday or tueasday.

Also, you may say its bad luck but there seems to be a number of underlying conditions that are causing an increase in cruciate injuries, this was touched on wednesday night on the Commitee Room if anybody seen it...

a consultant mentioned things like ground conditions (dry & hard well drained pitches) Blade booths, and the lack of education in gaelic games on teaching players how to try and paractice good jumping and turning moves to try and reduce this particular injury.

Id have to agree with you on this pure, something has to be causing these.Ground conditions may well be a reason that i hadnt thought about before. The sand based drained pitches are great in the winter but in the summer there far from ideal.
I dont really buy into the idea that its blades, doesnt make sense to me.

Jaysus , it's an absolute roller coaster. You just never know what is coming next. In the last two games against Meath , Hughie Lynch has been phenomenal. I hope that it is not the cruciate.

Anyway , Kildare by 4 to 6 points. You would still have to be confident. Cool

This is awful news.
I always feel so sorry for players who do that bloody cruciate cause they're out for so long with it. Fingers crossed it's not the cruciate though.

He's going to be a massive loss especially if Doyle is still carrying a bit of a knock.
Will Daryl Flynn come straight in or do yee see anyone else been put in the middle?

Very unfortunate for Hugh.

Conor Brophy might be an option.

If that is the case rgb he would not be gone for season.

It's still 6-8 week injury if it's a complete tear.

I really feel for Hugh having done the dreaded cruciate before myself, but I really would have no worries about throwing Flynn straight into the mix and performing.

Even a slight pull to the Medial ligament is so sore that you would be screaming, So it could look worse to people than it actually is. Please God its not the ACL.
