Yes, I remember Tyrone doing the same thing with Peter Canavan. I can see from the reactions I am getting that it may not be the most poupular suggestion ever. I think JD is a great player and I have the utmost respect for the man, but I think we should look after him a bit.

| By not playin him in the worthless OB cup and bringing him off the bench in a similarly unimportant league, we are minding him.
Man I hope to God you are drunk or sick or something. The day we can afford not to start JD in the championship is the day we will win the AI
I really thought I'd seen it all - until now

| Connolly; P Kelly, Foley, McGrillen; Callaghan, Bolton, M O'Flaherty; Flynn, Lynch; Doyle, Conway, E O'Flaherty; Kavanagh, Smith, R Kelly.
Think it's an 18-20 man game now and we'd have plenty of options with the likes of Dermot (I'd start him if he was match fit of course), Mac, Conor Brophy, Roly, Tommy O'Neill, Padraig O'Neill and O'Connor.

| I think Chalky is not a bad player but I do feel there are others ahead of him. Thats why most of the teams have not included him. | |

| Thought Chalky was outstanding at U21 and looked Glen's natural successor at no 6. Sad the way he has seemed to lose confidence and pace, he was a superb kicker of 45's, seemed to get one in every game in 08. | |

| had chalky on my team. class footballer. A bit slow over the first few yards sometimes. wat do people think of early goin full forward? I think he'd be better than o Connor there.

have to agree with ya there. o connor not contributing enough directly to the score board. its only time before counties are goin to be happy to let him have the ball and tighten up on the other forwards. great ball winner but not enough from the rest of his game. even o gara has a better return and thats not saying much. early might just add a different dimension.

| I would say chalky has a good footballing brain but he gets caught out with his pace on ocasions. I think when the ground hardens up O connor will be more and more ineffictive. Teh full backs will outpace him to the ball and will get up easier for the high ones. | |

| Dermot would not be too bad a ff but again you not describe him as a scorer. We need scoring forwards as we seem to have plenty of lads to do the donkey work. | |

| No lads, been tried before with Dermot and just doesnt work...He has to be out in midfield or not on at all. | |

| Chalky could be a midfield option. He played there at minor level and has played there for Sarsfields. When he came on for extra time against Donegal he did well partnering Flynn. | |

| Any word on Hugh Lynch lately? Will he be back soon? Surprised Brophy wasn't given a chance to play midfield this year yet. | |

| Paddy Dunne of Athy is on the panel, havent heard of him being used yet, well i know he played the o'byrne cup final against DCU. Would he be worth a go in the league atleast? | |

He's a terrific footballer but McGeeney is like Trappatoni when it comes to giving players a chance.

| gomearza you and bitch talk some serious amount of bullshit.
McGeeney is in his 5th season in charge and has tried 5 different goalkeepers at championship level football.
In the back line he unearthed McGrillen(All star nomination), Kelly(All Star), Lyons, from no where. Has tried players like Tommy O'Neill, Fitzpatrick, whilst also getting Foley an All Star at full back, and Bolton a nomination at wing back. This whilst playing players like Rainbow, Andrew McLoughlin, Kevin O'Neill, Gary White and other over the last 4 years.
I'm not going into midfield and the forwards as there are plenty of players who have been given the chance over the last 4 years.
You can accuse the management of many things, but not giving lads a chance is not one of them.
I think its fair to say that all those lads who were building up some of the u21 players and crying out for some of them to be given a chance with the Senior panel now look like complete idiots.
As a matter of interest who in your opinion is worth giving a shot in the first team. Its all well and good making bull shit statements like above, come and back up your opinions or fuck off.

| Fuck off? Charming.
I'll keep my opinions on potential newcomers to myself. You clearly know it all. No point incurring the wrath of the resident McGeeney fanboy.

| Fionn, youre right about McGeeney giving players a chance but the trouble is he gives some players too much of a chance. How long did it take for him to admit that David Whyte was not good enough? How long did Brennan, Hendy and Rainbow remain on the panel and hardly ever get game time? When will he realise that Flanagan and McLoughlin are not good enough and that there are better footballers already on the panel? For the record both Dowling and Fogarty have played championship football and did not look out of their depth. I think both Moolick and Hurley have suffered from too much weight training and imo have been treated badly by being hauled off in games without being given a chance. It may be that some of the players from last night will feature on the senior panel soon and will be able to give it their full commitment. | |
