Think the 16s management are definitely on the money ,i heard they were out around at games over the week end and are watching all divisions . Also think they are very approchable , so if anyone has names let the lads know

Top guy, hugely organised and great guy to oversee a programme as proven from his days in Athletics Ireland. Hugely intelligent too, don't blame him for Westmeath, and real coup to get someone of that standard to go to an under-16 team.

Remember, Hackett has a GAA background and was in that before Athletics Ireland. He is proven. He never stood a chance at Westmeath as his appointment was ridiculed from the off - he was working long term and it didn't suit - he was in charge of their U21s that almost beat Dublin, who went on to win the All-Ireland. It's a coup for Kildare to have him on board and hopefully keep him on board.

Brendan was coaching Leixlip around the time of their only appearance in a County Senior Final, ( or just before).

Brilliant coach but a few lads thought they could d better !!! they did a lot worse !!!!

This appointment seems to be a real achievement for county board and will benefit our development squad structure hugely......anyone in at trials games/coaching last night, heard there was more lads brought in and mentors were out and about looking at new talent over the weekend......

looks like the final trial for the u/16's was held on Monday with the cut coming this week, good luck to all involved. meanwhile the u/14 trials are on next week in hawkfield

Heard the mentors are meeting this week to trim down the panel to around 35 or so with the view of having the panel open ended and players been looked at playing with their club by designated scouts on a weekly basics. Think this has been ongoing over the last few weeks. Anyone else hear any other news on development squads.......

U/ 14 trials got underway today with about 130 kids running around in the snow, wishing them all every success.

U15 squad having trial matches tomorrow........like the U16s the squad to be cut down to around the 35 mark.......best of luck to all

The under 21s are in the spotlight at the minute and rightly so .Think geezer mentioned brian murphy,alan barry and noel mooney for work done with this crew . No doubt these lads are a product of the devolpment squad system and thanks to all the lads who gave freely off there time to help out .Cill dara abu

Well said there lollypop........I remember hurley, cribbin, flynn and kelly to name but a few that were in development squads over the last number of years, these lads were well mentored by all the lads who gave there free time to promote the GAA within the county at youth level. A big thank you must also go out the Kildare GAA coaches in hawkfield who are also heavily involved with the development squads and long may it continue.......CILL DARA ABU.....

In the Captain's speech Tommy Moolick mentioned Bryan Murphy, Alan Barry & Mick Hoban & thanked them for their imput into the now Under 21 team.

Geezer followed suit.

It was a nice toych from them both.

The u/14 squads won 5 of their 6 matches in hawkfield yesterday. 2 squads from kildare, Offaly, laoise and longford took part

The Development Squads of U17 and U16 played a challenge between each other this morning in Hawkfield. Some fine footballers on display from both squads although both panels were short a number of regulars due to exams and club commitments. Think the 16 squad won by 2 points or so.....

That wouldn't be unusual, u17 squad would have 9-10 players on the minor panel this time of year so it would be reasonable to expect an u16 win
