I too would query McLoughlin's selection but he must be going well in the practice matches out in Hawkfield. In fairness to the guy he's had his detractors in the past but he has been much improved in the last two years. He's far less inclined to give away cheap frees which was his achilles heel during the earlier part of his career. Doyle has only played about fifteen minutes of football for the Kildare seniors afterall but hopefully he will feature off the bench. Foley will probably be back to the edge of the square when Flynn returns anyway.

I suppose Fogarty would have pushed hard for Smith's place but I understand the thinking on that one. Smith is a confidence player and this could easily be a game where he could notch up a good score. If he could rattle in a goal or two on Sunday it may propell him back to the form he showed when he first broke onto the scene.

IMO that is one of the down sides since geezer took over, he has not intergrated enough of young players into the squad from U21 squad that reached all ireland final in 08....unlike Kerry, Down and Cork have done in the last number of years......but sure i suppose we have improved over time since geezer has taken over......

I'm not disappointed to see Mac starting. As I said a few weeks ago in another thread it is hard to recall him letting us down in a championship game. Back in the dark times under Nolan/Crofton he often played well when we were being hammered.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Flynn starting, Foley at full-back and Mac losing out, but in the meantime we can only discuss what's been announced

I've said it before but wouldn't like to see Foley used in mid-field this year. I think we could have the best full back line in the country with McGrillen, Foley and Kelly. Would be a shame to mess that up.

Does anyone know if Earley is likely to get a look in this year? If he's still no 100% would rather see him start and come off early in the game and just concentrate on winning kick outs. That would give Flynn and Lynch a chance to come on later in the game and get their fitness back.

Any suggestions as to what those changes might be carburyman?

Would Fogarty be in with a shout after his great cameo in the league final?

kfm sports news at 1 stated that the starting 15 will be named after training tomorrow night and this
team sheet was only for the programme

on a sidenote that goon parkinson had another pop at mccloughlin earlier
something along the lines of replacing leper with mac is like replacing a bmw with a corsa...

I saw that, Roli picked it up as well. It would be interesting to see if he is put as a sideline reporter with Newstalk for a Kildare game. Doubt he would be down the Kildare side anyway.

would ye not think dermot will be given another run at some stage and then like in fairness what a man to bring to the edge of the square.

Seems like any non-Kildare v Offaly questions are off limits.
What I'd really like to ask is whether Johnston will be available this year and I'd like to hear him go on the record about that transfer and the Supple rumours. A lot of people insinuating that we approached Johnston and Supple and it would be good to hear someone simply ask McGeeney so he could respond to those rumours.
But it doesn't seem like KFM will be asking any particularly interesting questions.

I don't believe that will be the starting 15. I expect a couple of personel and positional changes

Hasn't really got going and into a championship feeling yet. Hopefully when they take the field on Sunday our year will be kick started. Best of luck to the lads and management. Will be in Portlaoise to cheer them on.... Up the Lillies!!!!

Name one time he's been a 'disaster' before? Fairly cheap comment from behind a keyboard about a man who has given a lot to the cause. Hope he starts and proves people wrong yet again.

Anyway I know this is dangerous talk, and I'd take a two-point win if you offered it now, but I'm dreaming of giving these hoors a severe hiding on Sunday. Just thinking about abuse off them in 1999 and 2004 and particularly 2006, when I had a particularly obnoxious Biffo roaring in my face in the Hogan Stand.
We can never beat this shower enough, or by enough and I hope if we do build an early lead that we are completely ruthless and sicken them as much as we can. Payback time, hopefully.

Yeah have to agree here / Mac has had his critics but has been a great servant for Kildare for many years at many different age groups. He has rarely let us down in the past and a man of his commitment and dedication does not derserve such cheap shots on here.

If he was from Allenwood / Carbury area, Tom, you wouldn't be spouting such rubbish - you should know how offensive comments like that be can be - as you yourself, spent long enough on these forums before defending guys from your own area who clearly weren't good enough for the County team.
