I know where you are coming from TK but look where we are right now. At a basic level we need to get to find out who has the mental and physical toughness as well as the passion to play senior championship football for Kildare. When we have some certainty over that then you build around that and put in place the systems and experts needed to progress the team. Do it the other way and you have a team with a soft centre (something we are well familiar with). Remember training in McGeeney's first year were fairly rudimentary and it was when he had a better idea of the players he wanted that the operation expanded from his second year onwards. Jim Gavin took over a team that won the All-Ireland just over 12 months earlier along with winning 2 of the 3 previous all-ireland under 21 titles. Fitzmaurice had plenty of gifted players who needed to be fitter and more tactically astute. Very different situation here.

Only the few people in charge of choosing a manager know what the proposed backroom teams are and whether the proposals are affordable. Don't assume that Glenn or any of them would be a total dictator if he got the position. One outside name I would throw into the mix would be Donie Buckley. Joint-manager of Limerick with Mickey Ned for a while. Popular coach with the Mayo players but itching for a shot at managing an inter-county team by himself.

Paul Curran? very good club record, club he is managing at the moment knocked St. Brigids out of the Roscommon championship. First time they were beat in years.

To be honest it has to be Ryan at this stage and good luck to him. It's equally important who he has in to help him all the same.
I think that's an area we have really fallen off on. Once there are no immediate gripes it's ok. Jesus we need a massive year to get things going again.

Who said thats all they'll bring but as i sat and watched kerry kick 7 colours of shite out of us and as many have said since we lay down and let them. I'd say that passion is fairly important at this stage. But i agree Freddie there are a lot more needed to sorting out kildares problems.

Any suggestions yourself there Freddie.
