Most county boards are populated by dinosaurs. Kildare must be one of the worst in the country. Gotta wonder where all of the money goes. Trickling down from the top, right?

KFM Tune in Tues (7th) morning to Kildare Today 9-11am to hear why St Conleths Park Redevelopment is “paused”. Committee Development Chairman Padraigh McManus in #Kildare Today Studio 10.10am #KildareGAA #StConlethsParkNewbridge

Did anybody hear Mick Gorman on kfm today, speaking about Conleth’s? Missed it.
If it has been postponed indefinitely, the least they could do is give the place a lick of paint, tidy up the toilets and get rid of the steel railings around the pitch.
Surely they have the money for that at least? If not, where has the surplus they reported in recent years gone to?

If they put a quarter of the effort into sorting Conleth’s out, that they do for hawkfield, we’d have the redevelopment done years ago

Any way they could ring-fence the money now and just leave it in an account. There's a recession coming that'll make 2008 onwards look like we did all party. Far more bang for your buck this time next year when economy on its knees (although flip-side is inflation is going to be mental for a good while).

I’d be very wary about the money they claim to have now, and their ability to ring fence it. There’s lots of talk about commitments to fund. Less talk about hard cash in the bank.
But there are certain improvements that could be done at very little cost… A lick of paint wouldn’t go amiss, get rid of the fencing young lads climb up on, blocking everybody’s view, tidy up the toilets.
I personally think they should push ahead and do the pitch. They could definitely fund that. The pitch size is holding us back. Granted it’s an advantage when we’re at home. But it’s a massive negative when we travel away. It would also show the fans that there’s a plan for the future and there’s people with the ability to get projects done in the county board.
Any progress is good progress. Standing still shouldn’t be an option.

Oddly if I ever won ridiculous money in the EuroMillions, the first thing I'd do (well after a pint) is put about 15 million into Geraldine Park and make it the new county ground. But then, I don't do the EuroMillions

Pitch, Toilets and Floodlights. That should be the plan.

Its amazing, or embarrassing, to think most Gaa clubs in Kildare have at least 1 set of floodlights in their grounds not to mention the soccer and rugby clubs, and here we are in 2022 with no floodlights in our county grounds,

Waterford are pushing ahead with their development on a phased basis. That’s forward thinking for you. If only we had the same future planning instead of throwing in the towel at the earliest opportunity.

As mentioned above, whatever about the structural and costly parts being on hold, there should be no excuse as to why interim facilities cannot be improved upon in the short term.. Toilets, paint, railings floodlights etc are not materially costly in the grand scheme of things but would improve things while we wait (again) on this project

Not for a second defending the state of the county grounds for a moment and totally agree that lights, a jacks upgrade and some other works that would be relatively inflation proof should be up and running already. What I will say about Waterford is they are guaranteed two giant home championship sell-outs a year in the province, we're at 27 years and counting although chicken and egg scenario I guess - build it and they'll come?

Louth rasing €14 million from 37 foreign investors pledging €400,000 each in return for Irish residency. There's your fund raising model Kildare County Board.

There was definitely talk in the last couple of years of Kildare going down this route also..........counties were being actively encouraged to do so

Forward thinking and a will to "make it happen" ... Peter Fitzpatrick had driven this project forward through thick minded determination when it looked like it was dead in the water.
Sadly we arent on the same level - Our county has always been junior tier when it comes to an infrastructure planning.
The lack of stream for the county final was a disgrace and a completely lost opportunity for some much needed funds on the showcase occasion

Would Kildare have gotten 37 foreign investors? No. Meath tried it and could only get 1.

They might not have got 37 but they could have got 10 which would be an extra 4 million in the coffers. Or we could have another sponsored walk.

I’m all for getting foreign donors… but not at the expense of a sponsored walk!!!! Why try something new? Sure we’re flying along as it is.

Charging €22 into a game then being unable to provide hot water for players to shower afterwards tells you all you need to know about how things are run in this county.
TG4 even decided to show the Laois final after the Donegal one was postponed, yet year after year we have the same eejits on here and Twitter wondering why don't they show the Kildare final. Our county ground is one if not the worst in the country and quite dangerous to erect a gantry, especially if it's windy.
Intel, Pfizer and a massive horse racing industry based on our doorstep yet our county finances are handled like a raffle from Father Ted.
Shambolic and embarrassing.
