| Taibi, time to cool the jets. I think you might be confusing the concept of a forum vis a vis a group think-in. H.G. is certainly not an embarrassment to me. In fact this forum would be much the poorer without him on it. Let's all use this forum for the reason it's there....to express our love, passion and loyalty to the "Lillies". Let's leave the personal jibes to the trolls of this world. This is a fantastic free facility we have here. Roll on the w-end !!! | |

| Well said Pillow lad. Although I disagree with HG’s recollection of Robinson’s performance v Longford.
By the way for anyone overseas at the week end it’s available on GAAGO for €10. You can either watch live or on playback when you get back from the beach! Cill Dara Abú!!

| Has Shane O'Sullivan recovered from the injury that forced him off against Kerry? He was impressive earlier in the Leinster campaign. | |

| Right, time to move on from boring Robinson non-debate & focus on the match.
Straight up: I'm not going to be able for it if we lose this. So, no pressure lads!
I hope they're ready psychologically for what Mayo are going to throw at them - revenge for Newbridge Or Nowhere is an additional motivating factor.
My hope/belief is that if we can match Mayo's passion, our greater overall quality will win the day. I hope Burke is drilling it into them: fight like maniacs, no surrender!
Actually trickier than it sounds as the history of Kildare football is littered with chronic disappointments, no-shows, near misses etc etc.
Feck it I wish I was giving the team talk myself. Suffice to say: we fight to the last! Cill Dara Abu.

| Looking forward to this game. If we can keep down the mistakes and keep the tackling and tracking the way we were doing the last two game we are in with a great chance of victory. Best of luck to the lads bring it home... | |

| Had a look at Mayo-Derry game.
They play a very similar brand to us, a traditional Mayo style - open attacking football. One area where I think we could make hay...
Like Kildare, they try and put pressure on out the field, but if you can move the ball quickly in the middle third and beat that press, the whole thing opens up. The first Derry goal came from a long diagonal ball to the full forward line (the sort Hyland and McLoughlin love), and the second came from beating the press and running at them hard through the centre.
They were actually so open in the first half I half-think they might play a sweeper in this match - maybe even a centre-back dropping - but even if they do, there's no way they will have mastered it in such a short space of time. So again: if we can beat the press and get quality early ball to Hyland and McLoughlin, we could create a lot of scoring opportunities and there could well be goals in it for us.
A few points for when Mayo attack...
1. Their half-back line are in the traditional Mayo mould: they like to get forward. Our half-forwards will have to be very vigilant.
2. Their half-forward line are dangerous. The centre-forward O'Donoghue is a good ball-player and ghosts in behind for goal opportunities. Beside him, the number 12 Conroy is in the Diarmuid O'Connor mould - gets on the ball deep and runs hard at the defence. Kicked the vital points to seal the Derry game at the end. Both players will need serious watching.
3. Egan is a real danger man inside. A quality free-taker and excellent finisher. But if Dempsey can take care of him and Barrett and Earley also get tight on their men, it would give us a great foothold in the game.
If we can get ourselves tactically and psychologically right, we have a great chance. Hopefully like they've done all year, the lads get stuck in and keep it going for 70 mins.
Best of luck boys, Cill Dara Abu.

| We were the 2nd team to win U21, Kerry won 1st one. We lost final the following year to Roscommon thanks to an inspired display from Dermot Early. Long overdue winning another one. | |

| Very polished performance apart from some elementary mistakes. The mistakes are keeping Mayo in the game along with some soft mayo frees just to keep them in it. A pity to be only 3 up which is far from impossible from mayo point of view. Great to see speed of scores. Its not just the J Hyland show and he certainly is playing like an old pro, laying off the ball when shot not on and taking some fantastic scores . We need to be careful as referee is fussy so good discipline required. | |

| Black card for McLoughlin after Mayo defender grabs him around the neck and pulls him to the ground. Hilarious stuff. | |

| Another referee who doesn't believe in the logic of being consistent in applying the laws of fairness when a Kildare team are playing.
