| I expect O’Neill to shake things up. Maybe he’ll try and play without a centre back... Tell defenders to shadow their men rather than tackle... attack slowly and laterally... and play the ball into a vertically challenged forward line, where the full forward is wandering around the field aimlessly. Throw in a wing forward or two who can’t hand pass with his bad hand, never mind kick passing it. And a reckless challenge or two and get a red. He hasn’t tried that yet, right? Oh and try and short kickout policy when we’ve a lauded high ball winner in midfield. Just to spice things up in the back line, that’s lighter than a jockey’s dinner. | |

| Tell defenders to shadow their men rather than tackle - Badger so correct - this absolutely drives me mental we never set an agressive tone to a game by throwing in a few big tackles apart from Mayo last year - and we know where that got us!!!! | |

| My guess at a team
1. Donnellan 2. Demsey 3. O Grady 4. D. Hyland 5. P.Kelly 6. Doyle 7. Hartley (O Neill won't pick him her so will probably be Cribbin again) 8. Feely 9. Moolick 10. Conway 11. Mc Cormack 12. Flats 13. Tyrell 14. N.Flynn 15. Hyland
Probably won't be even close to what CON picks but that is my tuppence worth!

| Can we please get some defenders who will actually mark their men and actually defend correctly. Hold their shape and assess the game from there. The look like rabbits caught in the headlights at times and get skint by average county players. | |

| 5 hours of video analyst I believe then 30 minutes of a light punching the ball around sideways backways but not forward in case we get a scoring chance because we have to keep possession | |

Ludicrous odds, I'd have thought but, hopefully, accurate

| The only thing going for Kildare this weekend is that they have a game under there belt also there record against Longford is pretty good. So im going to stick my neck out and say Kildare by 5. | |

Would tend to agree StevieG! Plus Longford have lost a couple since league to sunnier climates. As much as I think we need a change of management I do not want to see us lose to accelerate that. Put in an improved performance (particularly up front) and we should have enough. Need to play Dublin regularly. Learn from them. Won’t bate them any other way. The great late Eugene McGee said that of Kerry and brought his Offaly team down there to play games for the opening of envelopes. League was a disaster. It should have been go all out to win or just blood some of the under 20s and minors from 2015. But for a host of reasons injuries included its was not one or the other. Perhaps we can put this behind us, bate Longford, free shot v the Dubs and pick it up for Rnd 2 of qualifiers. Get a bit of momentum there and see where it takes us. |

| Still think we are a lot better than we have shown so far this year. If we could only try playing at a higher tempo and drastically reduce the lateral hand passing we would be far more effective. Also a little more intensity in our tackling and more tracking back would go a long way to reducing the easy passage through our defense. We showed last year what we can do in the summer and we have forwards who thrive on fast accurate passes into them. Hopefully having a game already will be a big help. | |

When you look at this and see players involved with teams who actually have a chance of winning something and playing (or not in this case, but you know what I mean ) at the top level makes you understand why some of our fringe players, with limited chances of game time and no chance of winning anything, give up on the inter county dream and return to their clubs.

| Lose on Sunday and we're into Round 1 of the qualifiers and it's possible we can draw Wicklow again, whereas Sligo, who didn't win a game are into Round 2 already. Makes perfect sense really... | |

| Last year we eventually came out on top but Longford had missed goal chances in that game and the bench was really making an impact especially Healy. We just all seem to flat and players have regressed. The problem is and has been for a long long long time, and with many managers is that we say we have better players than they show. BUT, they don't show it enough and tend to do it when the tails are up, not when we need lads to actually PROVE they are good players regularly.
I know we can't expect lads to have 9/10 games every day, but we seem to go from 8/10 to 3/10 week on week sometimes. There is just no zip out there and no new ideas from the sideline either. Kildare are a team that are rightly targeted by teams with lower quality as an easier scalp.
If we get over them and then see how it goes. Hopefully the Dubs might try some more reserved tactics if we get to play them.
