An amateur community-minded organisation would stream games with a nominal fee to cover costs.

Croke Park wants to play at being a corporate sports organisation and reap all the benefits of that, but without paying players.

But aren't the players paid (not a lot granted) and doesn't that money go back into the association and the clubs and counties of these players, and the facilities they use, and the coaching they get? The minute a structure isn't right and they aren't given everything needed (which costs a lot) these same players go nuts across the country. Plus the GPA take more money than most from what is made to demand intercounty costs more and more.

Spot on Ohtoohtobe, €12 to stream a 70 minute game played by amatuers, nah not having that. That's outrageous.

It's not a case of hurling against football. I'm not a hurling man in the slightest but I do enjoy watching some games.

Not surprised by the reaction of most on here, they were happy to hand over for the highest priced county final in the country last year without question.

Fair play to the hurling crowd, standing up for their sport, admirable.

But where do people think the money goes? Much of it to the amateur players who will not be happy if not getting everything and more in terms of preparation and in being essentially professional. Example...

"In 2019, Tipperary saw their total team administration expenses rise by 54% to €1.77m. Breaking it down, travel expenses came to €410,221, team administration €119,648, team transport and accommodation €78,569, team catering €281,532, team medical expenses €212,293, sports gear €232,181 and team support expenses €354,281. Last year, Dublin spent €1,370,807 on their teams and €87,034 on match expenses."

A lot of money also goes to an ever growing army of full-time employees on good money Tommy.
Player is nearly the only voluntary position left.
I’m not advocating for professionalism by any means, I’m saying Croke Park can’t have it both ways, expecting players to do it solely for the pride of the parish while their own healthy wages are paid for by fleecing supporters.
