Absolutely vital that we win the final now. Two defeats would be demoralizing for this group so early in their careers. Sometimes wonder if that 2013 team not had such heartbreaking defeats at minor and U21 would they have been more confident at winning tight games at senior? Some of the current team also lost an U21 final to Dublin that they should have won. Last year's team was unlucky to run into a superb Tyrone team, I don't think Sligo are any where near that level but they will have huge support especially among neutrals. Hopefully the belief from winning at the death will stand to them in the last ten minutes.

Agree with almost everything that has already been said. For me the manner of the win yesterday marks it out as the greatest Kildare victory I've witnessed in over 30 years of following and watching Kildare footballers in all grades. As somebody said, it was almost unkildare like in the way the lads reacted to every adversity thrown at them. Firstly coming from 6 points Down against a packed defence. But for me it was their reaction to Down's second goal that personified what marks out this team and its level of coaching. As Cormac Barker was about to kick out following the second goal l, Harry O'Neill was signalling to his teammates to calm it down, and that's precisely what they did. They retained possession, taking the momentum out of the Down comeback and then calmly worked an equaliser. How often have we seen Kildare teams in that scenario panic, rush shots and give up cheap turnovers and scores to the opposition? That to me points to a high level of coaching and also maturity along these young men. The same calmness and courage were the hallmarks of the passage of play leading to Jack McKevitt's sublime winner. So proud of those lads. I felt honoured to be there to witness that performance. Drive it on now lads and finish the job. Cill Dara Abú ️

I made a mistake there … it should of course be Ryan Burke when I wrote Fionn! Roll on next Saturday!

Rumours this morning that the game is being moved to 7.30pm. Lots giving out that we should have been the showpiece that day so now they look to have got their wish. An All Ireland final should not be the curtain raiser to a Tailteann Cup game but if it is to be a showpiece then move it. 7.30 throw-in means a very late night for both sets of fans.

It is the right decision to have an U20 All-Ireland Final as the main event of the day. However, would it not make more sense for them to move the venue to somewhere else to ensure it is a standalone fixture?

FFS we're some bunch to whinge about fixtures, locations and throw in times. Anyway Mullingar would have been a better location and it could have been standalone but it is what it is.
Even croker on the Sunday before the Dubs v Louth would have been better given it's an All-Ireland Final. Sligo has very good rail links to Connolly too.
It goes to show you what the GAA think of the u20 grade I suppose.

Now 1.30.... Jaysus, chronically early start for a Saturday. But sure, I suppose it leaves us plenty of time to party if we win the feckin thing.
After all the rightful focus on McKevitt and Dolan, just want to highlight Ryan Burke again. He & Mark Maguire from last year's team two very un-Kildare like defenders: complete psychopaths who are also fantastic footballers.
Would remind you of those great Mayo defenders of the last decade, Leeroy Keegan, Boyle, Hurricane Higgins, Chris Barrett et al.

Tommy would you reply to us for a bit of craic there ... Need a bit of Monday afternoon banter to gee us up for Saturday. You might not be watching though ?
The 1.30 kick off is great, allows the winners a chance to properly celebrate without being ushered off.
Common sense.
Best of luck this week to all involved - Enjoy the build up and leave nothing behind. What an achievement to be in back to back all ireland finals. Great achievement particularly in the manner they did it.

Exactly, nice early start where they can get down to Athy for the sesh where there will be no messing, just good clean fun. They will shake the bouncer's hand as they leave and exhange pleasantries.
Then they'll text the gallant Dubs and see if they fancy a few in The Court too.
Ah lads! It took me a day or two to recover! What a brave bunch of young lads and great to see Flanno putting real trust in them to call things on the field.
They will take some stopping!

I had a look at the Sligo / Kerry game from the weekend. Sligo are a good team especially defensively so will be no pushovers. Kerry didn't exactly look awe inspiring but Sligo shut them down really well.

Weather looking beautiful for Saturday which should add to a great occasion. We don't get many days like this with a team like this. They deserve as much support as possible.

Hearing that Athy and Castlemitchel are running buses, hopefully more clubs are doing the same. We need a big support up there. The lads deserve every bit of it

Such a good interview from Flanno on offtheball. Listening to him you can see why the team plays the way it does.
Very, very impressive.

Sligo have beaten Roscommon Mayo Galway and Kerry to get to the final and they’ll fancy their chances today. We will need our best performance of the year to win it. Good luck lads, do your families, friends, clubs and county proud !

Odds on favourites never sits comfortably for a final.
Hopefully the lads just do themsevles justice today.
Great weather for it and you'd hope a dry, fast pitch will suit the pace we have.
Best of luck to all involved, a big crowd already which is no less than these lads deserve.

Good start by Kildare but wouldn't you think someone from management or co board would have realized our keeper was the same color as Sligo, it's an all Ireland final and our keeper is wearing a number 3 training bib
