We'll see Sunday or All Ireland Sunday won't we Cool

Just going post this here again.
Delighted for McGeeney and all those who think they know better as I said I'd rather that.

Than the shite we had the last ten years.
Hopefully they go on to win it now and would you take Geezer back then? As a coach role capacity with Brian Flanagan.
Only those who want to hold Kildare back wouldn't.

https://kildare-nationalist.ie/2024/07/11/former-kildare-players-backs-flanagan-for-senior-football-job/

Quote :
“I know the man, that just has to be Brian Flanagan. I just think it’s as plain as the nose on your face. Look at what the man has done with the underage in Kildare. Bring him in along with whoever he wants to bring to the table. Give him a five-year plan and let him get our structures sorted out internally football-wise. Let him run with it and have a proper cut at it.”

“I don’t think an external manager with a two or three year window is the solution for where we are?. There could be a bounce but they’re not a Kildare person and they’re not here for the long haul.”

“Brian’s a serious individual. He’s got serious experience. He worked in Westmeath as a number two, he’s worked in colleges, he’s been a manager in his own right at inter-county level, got to two All Ireland finals, won one, he’s managed clubs. He’s in his forties, he’s been around a long time at playing level and coaching-wise.”

I agree with Mac Lochlainn.

Mac Lochlainn needs a position somewhere in the county board. He’s forward thinking. Open to ideas. Sees where Kildare should be and clearly has ideas about how to get there, that doesn’t involve sponsored walks.

Still think Flanagan would need a strong backroom ticket or joint manager position. Like here mentioned Donaghy brings a Jurgen klopp type figure for player/management welfare.
That was not there under Ryan that's what is needed in the modern game with the commitment involved.

https://www.rte.ie/sport/football/2024/0708/1458817-beer-and-bbq-key-to-donaghy-committing-to-armagh-cause/

"Donaghy has won the hearts and minds of Armagh fans and, more importantly, their players who have been enamoured with his presence.

For Ó Muirí, who has crossed paths with him a number of times since in his roles as an Orchard academy coach and an Armagh TV commentator, his addition has been inspired.

"You can see it, anybody can see what he brings.

"He’s so animated, he’s so passionate about it. He has a bit of Jurgen Klopp approach where he is out hugging the players and he has such a good rapport with the supporters.

"The supporters are very fond of him and I know the players definitely are. He has been a breath of fresh air."

There's no doubting that today's game will again deliver an emotional punch to Donaghy no matter what happens. For McGeeney, he will be hoping any potential pitch will pocketed for another fortnight yet.

On another note be great if McLochlainn put his name forward for chairman. He strikes me as the type to call it for what it is.
Don't think he would have let Kildare slip down to Division 3 and Tailteann. With no league game win without even a word been said to management.

Doesn’t he have an accountancy firm or something? God I’d have him as chair

I agree re Aindriú MacLochlainn, he definitely needs to be central to any Kildare executive, either as chair or as finance officer with a very wide remit.

Also just a thought re possible Flanagan backroom would be Paddy Tally, he will likely finish with Kerry this year. If Tyrone had not beaten Kerry in 2021 Jack was apparently bringing him here

Unbelievable performance by Armagh, motivated by an unbelievable manager. Kerry have better players but Armagh have the best manager in Ireland. But we thought it best to sack McGeeney, yet not one club or delegate would ask
one question at county board.meeting about the outgoing management, is it any wonder we are a shambles.

How can anyone involved in a heave against McGeeney have anything to do with choosing the new manager after voting McGeeney out.

None of those Armagh players have won anything at any level either. No under 20 titles, no minor titles, no club provincial or All Ireland titles.

Turning that group into one of the best teams in Ireland is an incredible coaching performance, the disrespect Geezer gets is unbelievable

Get a panel to propose a new new manager made up of Syl Merrins, someone like Bryan Murphy and an outsider, perhaps someone can be paid to help us, someone like John Costello or Pat Gilroy. Then ask the board to sanction their proposal.

How can our chairman be allowed have anything to do with choosing the new manager after voting McGeeney out.
The credibility is out the window at this stage. Hopefully more players come out like McLochlainn and point it out.

Nail on the head!
Who knows if McGeeney had of been let blood the under 21s at the time. The point been as you said those in charge. Are the very ones who voted him out. They shouldn't be let near choosing the new manager. Its absolutle madness.

I hope McGeeney goes on now and wins the AI but even if he doesn't. It proves all those who voted against him. Their agenda wasn't for the betterment of Kildare.
Those who voted against Mc Geeney.
Better not go for the chairman job. They know who they are or its another decade of the last shite ahead.

Perfect scenario Geezer wins All Ireland or leaves Armagh after this year and comes in with/ along with Flanagan as a coach/mentor.
Only one more game to find out. Hopefully Kildare hold out and see how it transpires.

Can someone put up the list of wise people who voted against McGeeney again, especially the cubs who voted against the wishes of their own players who were on the county panel and asked their clubs to keep geezer. Disgraceful decision.

Agree totally, one of the names for chairman is a former chairman of Athy who canvassed the county to oust McGeeney

Mick Gorman, Martin White, John Joe Walsh, Marty McEvoy, Eddie Lawlor, Mick Fennin.... to name but a few....

Lot of them still hanging around the place stinking it out.

Mick Gorman is the current chairman.

Look at his performance the last 6 months and his interaction with the media. The meetings. Keeping on Glen.

Genuinely lads and this is nothing personal. And McLoughlin alluded to it in his twitter post. How this fella can be involved in the process of appointing the next manager when at every turn he has been completely and utterly inept is beyond brainless.

I've said it for a long time. We deserve everything we get.

And what a bunch of names above. Ruined Kildare football.  Some odious people in there too.

Anyone see Lepers post. It’s a bit poetic and ironic that we are at one our lowest points ever and Geezer brought them to an all Ireland final. I know we got hammered by Dublin in 2013 and then bet by Tyrone but fuck me I can nearly guarantee that we would be in a far better place nowadays if we kept him on. Would have got far more out of the likes of Hylo, Cribbin, Dowling, Paddy etc too.

Lads Geezer is gone from Kildare nearly 11yrs. He is an outstanding manager & players love him but unfortunately you need to have clubs on your side as a county manager but unfortunately Geezer didn't due to him trying to stop lads playing Club Championship. He didn't care about Clubs in Kildare & only for these clubs we wouldn't have county players. Delighted He won today but we really need to stop talking about him.

Mc Geeney was only doing what any manager would do at the time. It was his first senior gig too. It's the likes of your mentality that has Kildare where we are. Shame on you. I'd say you and many more who voted McGeeney out were sick he made the AI final today.

AND NO we will not stop talking about McGeeney until one day soon or in the near future. He will be back here in some capacity be it coach/mentor type role to finish unfinished business. When he's done in Armagh.

Can you not read??? I said I'm delighted he won today!!!! I'm a massive fan of him from his playing days. What other managers try stop players from playing Club Championship?? God sake get a grip.
Also I had no vote or input into removing him.

He won't be back with Kildare so stop living in Couckoo land. Unless Kildare can come up with nearly 200k to pay him
