leinster championship draw of 2011

any thoughts on would a good draw for kildare
way draws works
meath louth westmeath dublin are in quater finals all ready
kildare, laois ,wicklow c,arlow ,wexford ,offaly and longford are in round 1 but one team will get a bye into quater finals

Would like to get dublin and get a good win under our belts early.

What we get we get, we had the best possible draw last year and look where that got us.

look at louth they losing four of frist team next year all going australia

Would be happy with anyone,come the start of the season,think this year will stand to all the lads.

No doubt we will get Laois.. Honestly don't think Leinster develops us as much as the Qualifiers ( hard road trips up North last year stood to us). Not too concerned about Leinster but would take the silverware if it came.. beggars can't be choosers

Don't think it matters who we get really, should be good enough to beat anybody in Leinster. Then again we couldn't have had any easier of a draw this year either. If we get a nice draw and reach the Leinster final then so be it, if we end up in the qualifiers then we'll give that a go again.

Either way like Carburyman said this year will stand to the lads in the long run, hearbreaking as it was we'll be the better for it.

There'll be more teams out there afraid of us than we are of them.

Would love the chance to play the Dubs the first day out though.

I think being in the preliminary is a good thing as the opposition will not have played a game either. As has being said above not worried about who we get.

Im not bothered who we get,who we get,we get. So be it. I hope to avoid the Dubs until the final if we were to get there and give them a thumping.

Kildare can't get the Dubs lads.... unless of course it's in the quarter, semi or final....

Round 1 will be against either Laois, Wicklow, Carlow, Wexford, Offaly and Longford...

Preliminary Round will be on a Home or Away basis with the exception of Kildare v Wicklow.
Teams in Preliminary Round Draw - Kildare, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Wexford, Carlow.

Why is Kildare V Wicklow the exception? Because of capacity worries in Wicklow?

Don't know why Kildare v Wicklow would be an exception. The crowd that went to Navan last year to watch the Louth game would hardly cause Newbridge or Aughrim any great difficulties.

However, am I the only one that thinks the Home or Away basis is crazy. I know it's used for the qualifiers but why is it now being used in a Provincial Championship. Unfair on the away team. I'd imagine if the Co. Board tried to bring in that system for the Club Championships there would be uproar ....... or maybe not ? Maybe I'm just out of touch ?

Every other province does it except Leinster, becasue of Dublin and the crowd that Dublin can attract.
I think its a good idea personally.

Don't care who we get in the Draw, we couldn't have gotten it to fall any nicer for us last year and look how that went.

What will be will be.

Think the homa and away arrangement would be a better idea for Leinster too, up to the semi final stage.

With the exception of Dublin no other team is going to pack out a county ground for a preliminary round or a quarter final.

If we went with home and away arrangements it'd mean the end of double headers and put a stop to four counties travelling to Portlaois or Tullamore and causing two hour road blocks around the towns.

A lot of counties such as Offaly - Laois, Offaly - Wexford and Laois - Westmeath have arrangements whereby if drawn against each other they take it in turns for home advantage anyways.

Laois in Newbridge would be nice.
