I was told at last nights All Star Gathering that U21 and Minor management teams will be ratified at tuesdays nights CB meeting, think these are the names been put forward at the meeting,
Minor mentors are Brenadan Hackett, Brian Lacey, Aidan Minnock and some of this years U16 development squad mentors may also be involved.
U21 mentors are Tom Cribbin, Trevor Suillvan and Sos Dowling.
Imo the look to be 2 sound management groups if they are correct.....

Brendan Hackett will the be the Kildare minor manager. Brian Lacey, Tadhg Fennin & Aidan Minnock will be his selectors.
Tom Cribbin has been appointed as Kildare u21 football manager. Sos Dowling, Trevor O'Sullivan & Syl Merrins will work alongside him.

I think these are good appointments. The 2 managers have lots of inter-county experience and were involved last year (Tom Cribbin as U-21 selector and Brendan Hackett with Under-16s) so hopefully they can hit the ground running. Lots of experience in the backroom teams as well. Good to see Brian Lacey staying as minor selector and Tadhg Fennin and Sos becoming selectors.

I would like to see one of the selectors on the senior team on the management team for the Under-21s so the players involved with both are looked after properly. That might happen when we hear the senior selectors.

I'd like to thank Brian Murphy for all his hard work in the last 5 years as minor manager. It was great he got some success this year and hopefully he will be involved with Kildare teams in the future.

I'll second those sentiments regarding Brian, it was a big commitment from a man with a young family.

Interesting to see who will be the next Athy manager, everything gone very quiet on that front, we would be a good club to manage.

Taking to some Confey lads about Ronan Quinn. Rumor has it that he would ring players at half 6 in the morning to discuss football matters, and get them training for half 7!! He is a great motivator. Very driven character, both on and off the field. Would be a decent appointment if it were to go through.

Keelaghan is Offaly minor manager now from what heard. Ronan Quinn would be a good selector if approached heard he is top notch !

I wouldnt have thought His blanket defence tactics would suit Athys style of play..

Seamus do you really think he'd imply a blanket defence at a team a team like Athy. If so your sadly mistaken

themaninthestands, he has employed the same system at the 3 other club's he has managed so until I see otherwise I would believe he will employ that there also.

Bit unfair to tag Keeleghan as a blanket defence manager. He had to 'cut his cloth' in Monasterevan. He deployed a system that made them hard to break down and built on that. Id be fairly sure if he got the Athy job, he wouldn't need to play a defencive style but he would have them seriously well
Organised and more importantly. DICIPLINED!

I would expect Glen Ryan to continue in the defensive dogged style.

That was the point I was making as such.. Athy would have too many options up front for them to play that way.. However He does seem to favour that style of play, as was witnessed with the Offaly U21s also.
