| The semi finals and final of the Sigerson are down to be player on the 24th and 25th of Feb aren't they? If DCU get by Cork IT in the first round they'd hardly be willing to play the O'Byrne Cup final a few days before the semis for that would they? Maybe just have the freshers or reserve team available if it gets rescheduled. | |

Well didnt know that , maybe it might not be played , and as Kildare are current holders , may it be awarded by default , I assume if it was fixed for the 19th say , it would be upto DCU to pull out ?

| Don't think the sponsors, Bord na Mona, would be impressed if it was cancelled. | |

Well it's the closest place with floodlights apart from Parnell Park and we don't want to be heading to the home of the enemy.... The Leinster Council prob. trying to give it a stand alone fixture for Bord na Mona..

| Connolly got off, free for all then for the rest of the Leinster Championship. The phrase " a yellow streak wider than the Liffey" comes to mind. | |

| Good one TC....
I hear this might be another saga. Leinster Council offered Monday in Portlaoise & Kildare turned it down. Now LC have set it for Portlaoise on Friday Feb 17 & it doesn't suit Kildare. The reason it is not in Athy is to do with H&S reasons surrounding capacity. Hawkfield isn't a registered County pitch I believe, hence it's Portlaoise.

Portlaoise has lights and I'd say Hawkfield or Athy wouldn't meet Leinster Council requirements for night matches

Portlaoise has lights and I'd say Hawkfield or Athy wouldn't meet Leinster Council requirements for night matches Well Athy was considered good enough to conduct a hurling match under lights last year for the Tipp v Dubs friendly match ,as the lights are hurling standard which I believe must be brighter for hurling , and as for attendance , well as I have said before I woulldnt expect a huge crowd now from DCU or for that matter Kildare on Friday in Portlaoise.

| Athy should be able to host a match with DCU, u wouldnt get any away fans . That Tipp v Dublin hurling game wasnt played under lights though. On another matter, I saw the best player of the Kildareclub championship last year starting in for Bohs on setanta last night, at least hes still involved with the U 21s | |

| Athy's pitch is closed - has been since Oct when it hosted the shinty, there was a lot of work done on the pitch at the time (relaying etc) & I understand they are trying to keep it closed till April at least or all the work will have been a waste. Hawkfield is probably the same, decent lights are on the 1st pitch which is closed - as you can only really stand on side of the pitch it mightn't be big enough anyway | |

I didn't know Mick Foley was playing for Bohemians, he kept that quiet.
