| Trouble is GAA think Kildare = M7 and M4 = Croke Park no hassle. Helps that Kildare have rolled over so often in past on this. Listened to the draw live and it said first team out had home advantage unless drawn against Div 3 or 4 side. No mention of ground capacity. If the FA can demand that Man Utd must travel to a league 2 side then how come an organisation that prides itself on its grassroots can't do so? | |

| Other thing is think of money locally, and not saying it'd be massive, but if businesses see benefit of team getting big games, they are more likely to support that team to keep them competitive. | |

| The county board should announce the game as being at 7 in Conleths. It should be free in if Mayo don't show up and normal concession if they do. There would be a full house of people from inside and outside the county showing solidarity in this situation.
This is more than just a game, the importance of the GAA historically and culturaly to Ireland is greater than any other organisation. The way if had been prostituted for profit recently is disgraceful and a stand has to be taken.

| The ground level support and goodwill that Kildare could receive for taking a stand on this issue would undo all the negative stuff associated with us over the last 20 years. Work colleagues from other counties have indicated that it must happen to prevent the "morketing" people in headquarters forcing the association further down the super 8/SLY route. The fear of Mayo losing a dogfight in Newbridge and upsetting the script for the super 8 is the main driver for this as well as SLY not having to use to OBUs. Let's do it for the small man/club/county. | |

The way if had been prostituted for profit recently is disgraceful and a stand has to be taken. I'd suggest a voluntary donation at the gate to put towards the county kitty. If they do take that course of actions LET'S SHOW UP FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE

| Co Board refusing to play in Croke Park. Well done. Now let's hope they open Conleth's on Saturday and that we all turn up

| County board: "We are making it clear we will not play the game in Croke Park."
Worry is that because board did deal earlier, this will end up in Portlaoise or somewhere. We lose but they save face as do GAA. It shouldn't be about playing in Croke Park, it should be about having to play at home.

| “The game has been fixed for 7pm in Croke Park, and that is not going to change under any circumstances”, Feargal McGill, the GAA’s director of games administration, told The Irish Times.

| As things stand if Kildare were to beat Mayo and then Cork their home match in the super 8s would be moved to Croke Park. This means Dublin would play all 3 of their games at home | |

| Left themselves wriggle room to play it elsewhere - not good enough I'm afraid.
Has to be in Newbridge, end of.

| The Kildare website is down for me. Higher than capacity traffic probably. Would someone copypasta the statement here please if they still have it cached or open.
That article in the Irish Times website is interesting. Seems to suggest that the county board had backbone all day.
