Ok a lot being said about this situation arising out of the semi final last weekend. We will have a range of opinions and we'll never settle it but two things that will be settled are the intermediate and senior county finals tomorrow. I hope the county board show some leadership, not just in the short term with email threats but in giving referees the support and guidance they need and deserve. Maybe they already do but I've been involved for a long time playing, coaching and supporting and I've absolutely no sight of it.
Two fascinating games.... Can Athy break the Newbridge dominance? Yes I think they can because they won't allow themselves to be bullied by Moorefield. They have the players if they perform and they will only perform if they match Moorefield for aggression and physicality. Moorefield will definitely turn up and fight (they have a cause now because they'll be saying everyone is against them) and with the class they have up front they'll do damage. Athy by 2 in a cracker
In the intermediate game I think Kilkock will shade it by 4 or 5. Cloghs rely very heavily on Jack R, and a fine footballer he is, but I think Kilcock will snuff him out to enough of a degree that will enable them to get the job done.
Hope the weather stays good for all involved
Ha. Athy were bullied by Athy past year and 2 previous years, what's making you think this year will be different

They were bullied by Towers in the early rounds a couple of years ago too... it looked like they weren't really together as a group... From the limited amount I've seen this year they look more unified and that's why I think they won't be bullied and they won't lay down.

Maynooth won, and just about.. they were the fitter Team and this got them over the line. Hard to say this, but the Referee was an absolute joke.. couldn't keep up with the play and making shocking decisions against both Teams.. I've no idea who he was even. It's also very poor to have no neutral linemen for an important match.. surely at €11 a ticket the CB could have provided linesmen.

Well done Maynooth. They performed well in the championship and deserved to keep their senior status. Also good effort from Monasterevin. Must be so disappointing to go straight back down. Sport can be cruel.

Great achievement for Clogherinkoe, not many would have given them a chance without Jack Robinson.

Some result for Clogherinkoe but that was a serious bottle job by Kilcock.

Clougherinkoe are not a bad team throughout. Jack was obviously a big loss but they are a tough team to beat. Kilcock must be very disappointed

I'd say less bottle job, more emptied by last weeks exertions. Young team and they've a fair panel. Are well set up to survive at senior level when they do make the break through

Is every team that loses a game now a "bottle job". Such a stupid phrase for people with little else to add.
Clogherinkoe were the better team throughout, thought the ref a little kind to them at times but fully deserved their win. They looked more dangerous in attack and won more ball around the middle. Kilcock were very laboured and devoid of ideas up front beyond O'Rourke.
Great achievement for a small club, well done to them.

Well done, Athy. The rode their luck hugely in that second half. Stating the obvious but the goal was crucial, felt the game was getting away from them before that. Moorefield must be wondering how they didn't get a goal themselves, they hit the post and the Athy keeper made a great save shortly after. Feely was immense again. Lawler needs to be called onto the county panel.
Referee was great, as he usually is.
Disappointed with the offering by Dundara on the stream. The commentators were utterly useless, Holden constantly getting names wrong. Barry Connell? Mark Murnaghan? Awful. As for the other eejit beside him, the less said the better. Surely they could manage a current player or someone just finished who'd actually offer a bit of insight.

Well done athy. Showed great composure at the end and great heart. Also good to see Feeley flying too.
Referee was very good. Could have easy made a hames of that after all the antics last week. Credit where credit is due.
