Decent game, I think Moorefield left it behind them in the end.

Very nervy game. Sash of last year would have destroyed both teams. Athy had more composure. Red card cost Moores, lot of lads with big mileage on the clock. The fellas Moorefield were missing were noticeable when they had to turn to there bench. Athy got 1-3 I think from their subs where I think Moores only got 1

Athy were rocking in the final 15, the goal really came at the right time for them. Should have been well ahead at half time, were very wasteful in 1st half. Best team won I felt

Best team on the day won... Really impressive and composed in last 10.... Feely, Hyland, Barry Kelly and Foley closed it out strongly. Well done Danny O'Keeffe, super contribution from scoring and play when introduced.
Fair play to Niall Colgan too it must be said.
Delighted for Cloghs too... great achievement and best of luck at senior next year!

Better team won.. just. Looked like Athy hadnt built up a big enough lead, especially with Kelly going off and thst Moores would close it out when they hit the front. Athy bench contributed well and Athy had all the momentum once Danny O'Keeffe scored the crucial goal. Mick Foley's catch to deny Masterson at the end was sublime. Great ball in from Murnaghan, the old dog for the hard road there to collect.

The Athy goal came totally against the run of play, but it knocked Moorefield for 6

Completely agree KildareCat, it looked like Moorefield had kicked for home, overturning a 3 point half time defecit into a one point lead, goal put Moorefield back on their heels at 2 down, Athy also got next score to build a 3 point lead. Excellent fetch by Mick Foley at the end to clinch victory for Athy.
I believe Mick won MOTM and it was richly deserved in my opinion. I also thought Eaton and Barry Kelly played well, on the Moorefield side, Eanna was excellent as usual in getting them back into the game and putting them in front.
I thought it was a decent final well refereed by Niall Colgan.

Athy just shaded it, they won midfield hands down, it seems Moorefield didnt learn from last years loss to the Sash, breaking ball was a major factor in that match as it was yesterday, yet in both of those games when Moorefield did get in and around those defences they caused loads of problems, just didnt win enough around the middle of the park to actually get over the line, bring Durney into midfield along side Masterson, big imposing guy with an engine and football brain, thats where he always played when underage.
Yeah topcat Foley was outstanding can't beat the old dogs in big games!.

And that includes the replay against the Sash last year as regards losing midfield, I thought Roli's subs smelled of panic after the Athy goal, brought on 2 guys who wear their heart on their sleeve but are senior B quality at best in Daire Dunne and Ryan Moore, Mark McDermot is a tidy footballer no problem with him coming on, basically I think he should've left as it was and regroup just my opinion?.

A good, fair, county final that both teams contributed evenly to, well refereed.
Hopefully a nice distraction to all the fuss last week.
Mick Foley absolutely deserved 'man of the match'.
The only worry was that Mick and Kevin Murnaghan were 2 of the better players on display and both are well into their 30's, makes you worry a bit for the Kildare team going forward.

Can't agree with that. Thought Feely, Niall Kelly (his poor shooting aside), Lawler, O'Connor and Meehan were all very good. Barry Kelly stood out too. David Hyland led from the back for Athy, particularly in the second half when the game was getting away from them.
Disappointed with Pascal Connell, never rated him and he didn't do anything yesterday to change my mind. Very poor on the ball.
Loved the flares going off at the end of the game. Athy supporters certainly bring some atmosphere and colour to occasions, great to see.

Thought he was good this week and last. May not be great on the ball but wins plenty of it, breaks lines and laying it off is his game. Eanna O'Connor should be on the Kildare panel. His Da shoud be able to cure any past intercounty baggage he may have.

Agree re Eanna O'Connor. I thought he was the most dangerous forward on show yesterday, his two points with the left foot were sublime and his free taking was solid.
He deserves another shot at it.

Ó Connor is a totally different player with moorefield. He is one of main men there. When he joins kildare he is not the main man and plays within himself imo.

Wouldn’t be surprised if included in panel for rest of the 2020 inter county season

He doesn’t have the pace for inter county. There’s a huge difference in intensity and speed between club and county.
How many lads have we seen shooting the lights out in club football, only to fall short when they tog out for the county.
It’s no reflection on him, great club footballer but that’s about it.

Not a very nice move by the Gaa, in my opinion they have just 'dumped' the remaining club programme to basically secure the inter-county competitions, bad form.
This has little or nothing got to do with 'club celebrations', they have been going on for the last 4 weeks all over the country.
Level 5 and everything stops, so why couldn't the GAA just wait for another 6 hours or so and see what evolves.

Surely that’ll put an end to Kildare Gaa’a ludicrous idea of playing league games now. There is no appetite from players or club officials for these games to be played, give the players a 3 month break, they’ll be back in January, many with new managers,

I agree regards to league, but their are still some championships to be finished, Iike the minor semis were due to be play tonight
