| Well thats a fairly anarchic scenario you refer to and id imagine its a bit tongue in cheek. With very few exceptions those clubs have a very transitory existance ,springing up under a certain name ,reapearring under another not fielding for a season and reapearing the next . Im open to correction on these but I can only think of two soccer clubs in south Kildare with a History that exceeds 25 years of unbroken appearances . On the other hand in Gaelic football in the whole county i can only think of two that have gone out of existance ,Mooretown and Clongorey and two that have Either Affiliated or re-affiliated Confey and Kildangan ,so in general under the present system youre looking at a fairly stable situation where in the majority of clubs theres a fairly well developed underage system.Part of the difference is also in GAA if you start out in a clubs jersey thats whos jersey you play in because youve been encouraged and given role models within that club and hence feel a certain loyalty . A lot of soccer clubs dont have any underage structures whatsoever which i suppose is not unrelated to the freedom of transfer scenario and lack of generations of involvement in most (not all) soccer clubs . | |

| Fargo are you pretending the transfer activity within club football in Kildare does not exist? | |

| No im not at all BTA , but its reasonably regulated .Now i know it has its faults ,and plenty of them and is fairly well abused at times but even comparing transfers within Kildare to transfers nationally cant really be done because Kildare has no Parish Rule. | |

| Are you serious? The list posted here had over a hundred names on it. All moving from one Kildare club to another! | |

| That could well be right , but each of them would have been subject to some regulation either by original clubs comittee either granting or refusing it and if the person transferring takes it to an appeal a county transfer comittee (from next year on Kildare CCC) as opposed to soccer which i think is entirely free movement at equal grades between certain dates . | |

| your points about the soccer are good fargo and very factual which i like, maybe the soccer was a bad example as not much effort, time and numbers working behind the scene goes into the soccer clubs as the gaa clubs and i couldn`t see all that work with underage teams in the gaa clubs disappearing if there was a free flow transfer system could you? | |

| Usually when GAA players are retired, it's the people above all else they remember from their career. The friends they met etc. I wonder if Seanie will have that luxury? When the Geezer has long departed Kildare shores, will Seanie still be hanging around? | |

| Brian Murphy is still in Kildare coaching young lads. Seanie will be out of here when Geezer is gone. He "chose" Kildare because of Geezer/Julie/Carew don't you know! | |

| Nobody knew in 98 where those 3 would end up. Truth is, nobody cared either. Without those 3, we would not have won Leinster & not have made te AI final.
Fair point that Murf is still here but how do you know where SJ will be in 10 years time?

| Dont have a crystal ball so cant tell you where seanie will be in 10 years time just the same as I cant tell you where any of the other panel members will be!? Seanie scored 5 points for st.kevins on his debut v kilcock today. |

| See Sunday Game boys at it again making false allegations about Kildare
Accused Kildare of manipluations Fixtures by playing a Senior League game that had been scheduled since last March or earlier.
Backtracked a bit later on without withdrawing the allegation.
Whelan was the leader of the clowns

| Will RTE ever do some research before coming out with the rubbish they talk on there. They claimed the game Seanie played for st.kevins today made him eligible for Kildare against Offaly next week. Mc Stay says "It was my understanding that no fixture was in place. Ciaran Whelan interupts turns around and says to Mc Stay and Des "Kildare GAA have obviously MANIPULATED the fixtures to ensure he would be there next week". Utter Trash! Spent more effort of putting and getting pictures of seanie in the kevins colours up on screen then they did on their research. Spouting rubbish and giving out in accurate information. They then had to come back after the break after obviously been notified that they had gotten it wrong and Des says "oh our actually understanding is that it was a league game. If they had bothered their a**** to look it up. They would have known that sarsfields are st.kevins opposition for round 2 club championship. If they were able to get some pictures of him playing why didnt they ask the photographer that was taking them was it a club or league game? Whelan well able to speak out when he thought Seanie was after becoming eligible and throw his dig. Notice he wasnt quick enough or didnt bother to interupt to give an apology for saying Kildare had "obviously manipulated the fixture".

| There's going to be plenty of mud thrown our way as a result of the transfer. This will be the theme of all pundits for the indefinite future... | |

| Yet another example of hypocrites making an arse of things.
As for mud slinging - who cares what anybody thinks of Kildare. Once we keep winning, outsiders and begrudgers can ram their opinions where they belong!

| Sorry to be pedantic but those three didn't all win all-stars BtoA.
As for The Sunday Game, any credibility they had long since gone out the window. That beggars belief and shows that Cahill and others don't even follow the game closely. We deserve better for the licence fee.

| As for the hypocrites in Croke Park.
They can put up most sanctioned transfers in seconds yet this one sanctioned last Tuesday was still not put on the website on Friday, and I just checked, 5 new ones up this morning and this one still not included. As I said hypocrites
Just like Sweeney in the Indo yesterday
He's sitting on his ar*e down in West Cork, fully aware that Cork recruited Tompkins while he was living & working in New York, never said boo about it but now joins the ranks of the righteous !!!

| As O2 said TSG ha lost any credibility a long time ago. This shit stirring last night was just the latest in a long list of nonsense that they put out. The SJ bit was just cringe worthy and seeing Ciaran Whelan accusing the CB of manipulating fixtures is to be honest as low as it goes. They are just a tabloid tv program, no better than the sun or the mirror for making statements then having to retract them. Unfortunately we will never have the pleasure of hearing Whelan apologise for his manipulating comment as no one cares what damage is done.

| Anything ive ever read from Larry Tomkins about his Transfer or when ive heard him talk about it never mentions any county aspirations or approachs . He became very friendly with a few Castlehaven lads in America and was taken by how much they Loved their Club and always talked about it . (This is how he describes it ) He then went to live and work in Cork along with transferring to Castlehaven play football . He didnt fall out with the manager of the day , go to his Kildare club agm of the year and become players rep if it existed at the time and put in a transfer request to play county only as did SJ. Theres lads here berating other sources (and the Sunday game was obviously shown up last night) and going on to be either very selective with the facts or not familiar with them themselves . Likewise comparing Brian Murphy ,Karl O Dwyer and Brian Laceys transfers . I actually dont understand how anyone can even compare them to this one its not as if theres even a slight nuance that makes them different ,theyre a world apart. Two of them came to work here and one of them came to commute to his place of work . These are legitimate reasons to transfer as set down and catered for in GAA rules going back as far as the 1930s. | |
