That result isn't up on the website yet and when I came in from our match last night, there were two others that hadn't been put up in Division 2. It's a handy system but you'd wonder why some referees take so long to text in the result.

Naas beat JTB 1-13 to 0-08

Top of Div 1 is very tight.. with Athy and Celbridge on 16, Naas and Moorefield on 15, and I suppose the surprise Team Monasterevan on 14.. Is Div 1 a straight Final ? , and if so why ?, as I believe Div 2 has Semi Finals ?.. Im sure theres a good reason ?

Both div 1 and 2 are straight finals, pity really as it leaves the middle teams with not a lot to play for over the last 5/6 games

Oh right lilly, I thought Div 1 and 3 were straight Finals and Div 2 was Semis ??, Were there not Semis in Div 2 last Year?
I s there any reason why there are no Semi Finals ?.. Its a shame that so many League Matches are played, and only 2 Teams can Play for the Cup at the end.

Division 3a and Division 4 North have semi finals this year for some reason. Don't recall those divisions having semi finals before.

Div 4 South had Semis last Term.. I think lillys point is correct, if there is only a straight Final in every Division, then there is little or no incentive for Mid or just above mid table Teams.

Div 4 North had only a final last year anyway. I take the point about incentive but I know Leixlip anyway thought they were through to the final and Confey must not have heard about this as they no showed their last 3 games. There really shouldn't be such confusion about the league formats.

Agree.. All Divisions should have either or the other ( Finals or Semi Finals) but at least consistency across all Divisions.

I see Div 3A and Div 4 North have had Semi Finals..

Open to correction but in Div 1, 2 and 3 teams all have 15 games in the league whereas the other divisions have less games so it makes sense to have semi finals and there is time for those divisions to have semi-finals and a final.

I recall, on a few occasions, the Div 1 final being played after the club championship finals because it could not be fitted in after the league as championship took precedent. 2009 being one example, Div 1 league final was played in November if memory serves me right.

This was last year's rules for the league which seem to be the same except for Division 4 North. Found these posted by Centreback last year.


rule 6 of the league rules

6. The top two teams in league division 1, 2, 3 & 4 North will contest the league final to decide league winners. The top 4 teams in division 3A, 4 South, 5 North & 5 South will qualify for the semi-final. 1 v 4 & 2 v 3, 1 & 2 at home to decide league winners. Final league positions will be decided by the following criteria:

Rule 6.20 (5) T.O.2012

(i) Where two teams only are involved the outcome of the meeting of the two teams in the previous game in the competition.

(ii) Scoring difference (subtracting total scores against from total scores for) Scoring average (divide total score against into total score for)

(iii) Highest total score for

(iv) A play- off

Exception to (c): (1)In relation to means (ii) and (iii) above if the accumulated scores of a team, so involved, are affected by a disqualification, loss of game on a proven objection, retirement or walk-over, the tie shall be decided by a play-off.

(2) Regulations (i), (ii) and (iii) shall not apply to under 16 or younger age grade competition
