| Beat Laois and give the Dubs a good rattle in the semi final. Overall try improve on last year and get to the quarter finals.
I wonder will we be much weaker as a result of Hurley and Paddy leaving? The positives are Peter Kelly will be fit, Hughie Lynch put in a good performance against Mon last year, Smith was class, We now have a tough whore at Centre half back in Fergal Conway, Tommy was class and will only improve as he gets more experienced and Mullhall was great in the league we would have beaten Monaghan if he was fit imo. We've been training since last week I think any new lads in?

I think Mullhall has the potential if we are including frees. With a bit of luck one of the u21's will come in and shine.

| Ah no he doesn't but think he has a more poacher instinct if that makes sense. I would would love if both of them playing tbh. I hope to god we play defensive football we won't beat the big teams without it. I would love us to adopt something similar to Donegal last year against the Dubs! | |

| Am I allowed to say I hope we don't win the O'Byrne Cup again. Winning the thing and then flopping in the summer is annoying to say the least and embarrassing at worst.
Play some young lads, give the older lads a longer rest and then head into the league with the priority for the year to get promoted. Anything else after that is a bonus.

| To point out the bleeding obvious, we don't have the resources and strength in depth Dublin do, so if we're to compete we need to employ a counter-attacking game a la Donegal – which Lillie Lad points out above. If we don't we deserve to be beaten.
So taking that into account, I'm really hoping to see some semblance of a gameplan against Dublin, which has been conspicuously lacking on the last three occasions we've played them.

| O Byrne Cup is irrelevant - on crap pitches in the freezing cold against makeshift teams.
We'll just about avoid relegation from Division 2, but it will go close between Us, Roscommon, Westmeath and Cavan. I predict Westmeath and Rossies to go down. Us third from bottom. Galway and Down to be promoted. Meath will just miss out.
Laois will give us our fill of it in Leinster, we may just stumble by them. Dublin will hand it to us.
If we draw teams in any of the 2 top divisions in qualifiers we're toast and the club championship can run on again. Jason Ryan will depart and we'll be left scratching our heads once more.
Leinster : Dublin Munster : Kerry Connacht : Galway Ulster : Armagh
All Ireland : Dublin Dark Horses : Armagh Meath & Down to go will in qualifiers.

| Jaysus thats negative I think we will get promoted if we have a proper game plan and players stay fit. Wouldn't be afraid of anyone in division 2!! Sure fuck it we bet Down in the championship. We got our arse handed to us by Meath in the first half and then the first 12 mins of the second we were loosing by 12 points at one stage and clawed it back to 4 or 5 and had goal chances galore I remember Smith and Tommy Moolick getting some.
I think if we adopt a counter attacking style of play we'll do well. I would love us to play a team similar to this.
Gk Connolly (I think Donnellan has better kickouts but his positioning can be suspect) Rcb Kelly FB Fitzpatrick Lcb Ollie Lyons Rhb Eoin Doyle Chb Fergal Conway Lhb Bolton Mid Moolick Mid Lynch Rhf Paudi O'Neill Chf Flats Lhf Paul Cribbin RcF Muhall FF Podge Fogarty Lcf Smith
I hope to god we have luck with injuries for once and some other players perform and get in the team!

| His form may not have been up to his usual standards in the year past for Kildare, but he was still a great player to have in and around the team. Will be missed that's for sure. | |

| Pains me to say it but you'd have to think Foley and Flynn are unlikely to be starting championship next year. Hank gone now too and Paul Cribbin likely to be giving everyone else a headstart. Therefore with everyone else fit (a big if), on last year's form we'd be looking at something like this: Donnellan; Fitzpatrick, P Kelly, Lyons; Doyle, Conway, Bolton; Lynch, Moolick; O'Flaherty, O'Neill, N Kelly/Leper; Mulhall, Fogarty/O'Connor, Smith. Not a terrible team with Hyland, Byrne, Murnaghan, K Cribbin, McNally etc on the bench but not a team that could hope to beat Dublin or go further than the AIQF. Particularly if you throw in a few injuries which are close to inevitable. Beating Laois, a decent performance against Dublin, and getting to the quarters would be a very good season. Promotion back to division one would be a huge bonus. Anyone hoping for more is in for a lot of disappointment. | |

| Would have to agree with all that Ohtoohtobe. The one thing that can change thou is our game plan. Like you said I dont believe we have a terrible team but unfortunately its not full of All Stars either. The only way we are going to improve this year is to have a game plan that works for the players we have. For me we need to defend in numbers, break quick and feed the likes of Smith and Mulhall who can get us scores.

| It would be great if Peter Kelly and Eoin Doyle could get an injury free run as they are proper defenders and we missed them this year. I thought Eoin Doyle looked really good against Monaghan even though he wasn't on for that long. Hopefully the penny has dropped that we are not able to play the "man-for-man" game at the back that we persisted with up until the Meath game. It wasn't fair on our full-back line, expecting them to defend when leaving all that space in front of them. The Monaghan match was an improvement when Fergal Conway had a great game as a sweeper. Hopefully we can build on that.
The big challenge for the management next year is to come up with an effective game plan that ensures we are solid at the back, effective in possession and that the players are happy with and buy into. I can't say it really happened this year. I think we should be going all out for promotion to division one and it is achievable if we get our act together.

| Not a bad first 15 but I fear we are threadbare in quality replacements at midfield and in the full back line. We have lost 4 potentially top young midfielders to other sports and it is an area we have struggled in since Dermot got injured against Meath in 2010. I was disappointed with Ryan last year and he came across as a bit of a bluffer in some interviews. Sadly the talent at our disposal means we will have to play more like Donegal than Dublin to succeed against good teams but it seems to work for Donegal I suppose. I'd agree with not bothering too much about the OByrne Cup and instead focus on trying out players who played well in the club championships. The league should give us plenty of tough matches with a few local derbies thrown in. The good days of 2009-11 are long gone at this stage and we have to be more realistic about our prospects and our national standing. | |

| Beating Laois and respectability against Dublin has to be the priority for this year. We should safely avoid relegation trouble in the league. Promotion would be nice but I wouldn't be too bothered if we missed out so long as we begin to see a settled structure and a pattern of play starting to develop.
The cupboard looks bare at midfield in particular. Moolick is really the only long term option there. It's a pity if Paul Cribbin is injured because he would add a lot of badly needed mobility around that sector. The personnel is there to form a fairly solid defensive unit but it's vital that Peter Kelly and Ollie Lyons remain fit because we lack sticky man markers. We are not as badly stocked in the forwards as we have been in times past. As always the age old search for consistency will be a factor.
I'd be more hopeful of a good year at u21 level. We haven't been handed the easiest path to the final but at least Dublin are on the other side of the draw.
