| Good to hear the manager criticise certain aspects of the performance today. He obviously sets high standards and when these aren't met, he's right to say so rather than insult the supporters intelligence. I was surprised that he seemed surprised that our decision making under pressure lets us down. That's been a major problem for Kildare teams at all levels for a long time and it's unlikely to be fixed with a few weeks training.
It has been disappointing that we haven't been able to score a goal in any of the 3 matches. The biggest plus for me has been the form of Daniel Flynn. I thought the old guard of Shane Connolly, Morgan O'Flaherty and Daryl Flynn did well today and Eanna O'Connor deserves another chance.

Even today simple passes were given up for a harder delivery which ended in a turnover. Do the simple things well and the rest will follow.
It was nice to hear a Kildare manager annoyed. Ryan would never have said anything like that. I get the feeling if you are not doing what the manager wants or how he wants no matter who you are you are out. If the O' Byrne cup got nothing but that across to the squad then it will have been worthwhile. That's exactly what I was thinking on the way home when I heard that interview today Rex.........imagine the guff Jason Ryan would have come out with after a 2 point win over Offaly!

| Poor enough game. . And spot on re the goals or lack off. This is an ongoing issue.. mc nally in particular seems to get into great goal scoring opportunities with out much success. I hope he proves me wrong over the season. | |

| Cian is very a very good speaker in fairness to him and says all the right things. Jason was a different type character and was never to hard on the team in the media he was always very positive even on bad days which is admirable. But the only thing that matters is the conversation with the players in the dressing room which I'd say would be very similar with most managers after a defeat. | |

Saw him training with some of the squad before the DIT match. Must be carrying an injury or not deemed fit enough. We badly need a full forward option or two which is presumably why Paudie was tried there yesterday.

| Kildare GAA Banter 59 mins · So the top scoring forward in Kildare the last 3 years "Ray Cahill" has been dropped from the Kildare panel along with Podge Fogarty...we must be blessed with scoring forward if these 2 was dropped...Daryl Flynn,Eamon Callaghan,Emmet Bolton, Padraigh O Neill have been kept on..same old story with Kildare...
Shocking if true

| Hope this isn't true. It's fresh blood we need on the panel, the likes of Cahill. Will be disappointed if all the older lads are kept. Some of them have had enough chances at this stage. | |

| I'd keep Daryl once fit and recapture the form he once had, Leper has been a great servant but I agree with ye there, Emmet and Paudi are both still valuable players imo. | |

| Some of the older lads are still worth their place alright in my opinion, Bolton in particular. I just mean if all the older crew are kept in favour of some of the new young players who are coming along I'll be disappointed. At least if you give a younger lad who is showing some promise a chance he could develop into a great senior player. If the same ones are kept again it's hard to see much changing.
It might not even be true who was picked/dropped on that page anyway. We'll have to wait and see. Early days yet.

| Not having a go at any poster in particular but just a general point: it annoys me that year in, year out, loads of people seem to want a heavy clearout of the senior panel and a raft of new players from the club scene drafted in.
The logic seems to go that everyone who played in an unsuccessful season must be past it or not up to it and everyone who didn't must be better than them.
But there's a good reason a lot of club players haven't made it by now: they're not good enough. They never have been and they never will be and without naming names this type of player is on the panel every January and off it every February.
And there's a good reason the vast majority of the panel are there every year: they're the best players in the county.
Part of me would actually like to see this complete overhaul some people call for just so they could see that we would struggle to win a single game if we went with the players they mention.
The reality is that the panel evolves a little each year: two or three important players retire and two or three talented young players, usually those who have stood out at underage, come through.
That will be the case this year again. Anyone who thinks there will be 10 or 11 championship debutants this summer is deluded.

Other than slot over a few frees did Cahill really show inter-county class in general play? Didn't see the Louth game but he was poor in terms of involvement in the game, decision-making and shot selection v Offaly. All the things that traditionally afflict Kildare forwards unfortunately.

| Just a couple of points I'll make. Firstly Cian has to make calls as he sees them and he's looking closer at player's than any off us. In saying that and I'll disagree with you Crofter. I hope to God Ray Cahill wasn't judged on 2 games in January. 1 played in hurricane conditions. So I don't think you can judge him on that. Look at Micko, I remember going to watch kildare in the Autumn of 99 in Newry the day Johnny Doyle made his debut he got about 4 kicks off the ball and was taken off after about 40 minutes. He weighed in at about 10 stone if even. I remember saying at the time we'll if this is the best we have we are going no where in a hurry. Look how that turned out. But that's why he was a great manager because he was able to spot talent. As for Podge I just can't understand that call. But as I say Cian is the manager and he has hard calls to make. | |

| I'd rather have ray in the corner than some fellas mentioned above. And agree. How can any player be judged on a one or two matches and a few training sessions in the muck wind and rain ??. | |

If true this is like an episode of Eastenders Will you get yourself a bottle of cop on and wait for an official statement on the panel. The clue is in the name "Banter".
