| Moolick is in hospital at the moment so doesn't look like he'll be playing for anyone in The O'Byrne Cup.
Would like to see the team made up of mainly fresh faces and see how they get on.

| Louth 2-10 Kildare 0-5. 12 mins left. Back to reality after last Sundays result. To my mind the result doesn't really matter once we learn a few lessons in terms of players ability etc | |

| A nothing game in the most horrific of weather. Weather poor for both teams but A far cry from the fresh day Sunday.
I would read little or nothing into it other than maybe one or two not up to the required level and one or two no longer up to the level.
We reached final last 5 seasons and suffered back to back relegations the last 2 years. I almost welcome the defeat to prepare for round 1 of the league against Westmeath in Mullingar. |

| I'd be inclined to agree with most you have said Freddy. Doing well in it ultimately has never done us any good. In saying that, I would like Kildare to be competitive in EVERY game regardless. Yes its the Obyrne cup and yes its a rotten night, but still you'd like some bit of fire from all players on any Kildare team regardless. Learning Curve as we all knew it would be. | |

| Horrendous night for football, but no excuse as Louth were superior in all areas. They cleaned our midfield, their six defenders won most battles that came their way and their full forward line caused us all types of trouble.
They handled the conditions well, where as we could get nothing to stick in the forwards and our handling was poor to say the least.
But at the end of the day you can't read anything into that tonight as you couldn't read anything into Sunday.
I'd happily lose all games at this time of year for 2 points in the league.
Westmeath in the league is the priority nothing else matters.

| Head to head is first so if Louth beat DIT, they go through. | |

| I make it as follows
If Offaly and Louth win : Offaly go through. If Kildare and Louth win : Louth go through. If Kildare and DIT win : Kildare go through. If Offaly and DIT win : DIT go through.

| It is always disappointing to lose by so much no matter what type of game it is. I dont think the management team will worry too much really. All they are trying to do is to assess players. Some will not be on the panel for too much longer and in my opinion anyone outside the top 30 players should be let go bak to their club and pplay to get their form back. | |

| Nobody can be judged realistically in the weather last night, but it was the same for Louth. The team Kildare had out, would have been considered better than the team on Sunday. Last night's team either didn't have a game-plan or ignored it. Louth followed theirs to a T. Kildare's defensive unit did little or no communication, while Louth's never shut up.
Califf scored 1-8 from midfield (some were placed balls), but it was one part of the field that Kildare were losing out in all night.
I think we may have seen the last of some players, from what I witnessed.
But, does Cian O'Neill care too much that Kildare may not be in the final four of the O'Byrne Cup - I don't think so, but he will be majorly disappointed that the whole group went down so badly. Something that happened against Kerry. Getting lads physically fit & playing to a game plan is one thing - sorting out the heads could be a longer job...
REMEMBER... It was January 6th in the O'Byrne Cup...

| O'Neill has said he is not trying to instill tactics in these games for the very reason that lads will be gone in a couple of weeks. My take is they are essentially trial games from his perspective. How many have passed the test is the big question.
It seems a high risk strategy not to try to in still a structure a few weeks before the league but maybe he is doing that outside of the OBC games.
Not going to judge him on a game played in those conditions.

| He has certainly given as many of his club mates a go... Yes he has Brought in some new faces. But the usual o Byrne cup faces have turned up again. And I can guarantee they'll fade away as usual until next year.. what's the point.. Like most I wasn't too upset we were turned over by louth... let's cut the panel and get on with it. | |
