well lads the team are fit and well only for peter kelly who is injury with his neck should fit for sunday

Relax Hawker. I wouldnt swap Doyle, Kavanagh, Smith or Callaghan for any of their forwards, and thats not even mentioning Sweeney, O'Neill O'Flaherty and Kelly when he's back. They've got decent forwards but decent forwards with not enough ball wont win nothing.

Fingers crossed Kelly makes it. He's been the find of the year so far.

Kelly was the only one that didn't train, O'Rourke was doing a lot of talking to the corner backs one on one telling them all the same thing.

Kelly looked to be moving all right but you never know.

Just Seen this on the Meath Hoganstand. Looks like they are trying to create a siege mentality after the wharf from Star Trek lookalike threw the ball into the net and robbed Louth.

Yes, the entire country would love to see Meath fall on Sunday. Any why? Because the perception abounds that we are a hard, dirty team. And then poor Louth had not won anything for over 50 years.

The Leinster final debacle was none of our doing. Neither the fault of the players or the County Board. Right, we played damn bad and probably took Louth for granted.

But this vilification of Meath has gone way over the top, sensationalised by a number of journalists who still bring it up looking for a scoop.
So what do we do? ... Fall down and let the rest walk over us. Hell no.

If ever there was a scenario to galvanise the entire county, this is it. Players, management, supporters ... let's go out on Sunday, put that sick day right where it belongs and show how Meath men play football.

Hard yes, but fair and do not, repeat do not allow anyone have a laugh at our expense. Kildare will be a tough old nut, but there is no doubt we have the players to crack the Lilywhite shell.

Let's also hope that the Croke Park officials give us fair play. Marty Duffy owes us two valuable minutes from last year's Leinster clash with Dublin. Did we complain? No. Remember that t-shirt doing the rounds in the late 1990's with the words 'Meath Men Don't Whinge'?

Wouldn't it be nice to see some humble pie eaten by the likes of Spillane, Brolly and McStay for their Sunday evening tea!!!

That's thrown down the gauntlet to all Lillywhites to stand up and be counted on Sunday.

Meath always see us as an easy touch and expect to steam roll us. They see this match as the perfect answer to the Louth debacle and will thrive under the rest of the county's dislike for them. Meath men don't whinge, what a load of crap!

Kildare need to be confident on Sunday and stand our ground, both on the pitch and in the stands. If you want to be winners you have to act like winners!

Anybody know who our current peno taker is?? Think it was Roli if i'm not mistaken but with him potentially not on pitch if we got one any ideas who might take it?

I have seen JD, Leper and Jimers taking them in training, so think you have plenty of options....

Who'd come in?

David Lyons - has plenty of Croke Park experience and would look to be the frontrunner after coming on in both the Leitrim and Derry matches. Not the most natural full-back line player but could do a job on someone like Cian Ward.

Mark Scanlon - like Lyons he has plenty of Croke Park experience but he may not be the most natural corner back.

Ollie Lyons - would be a big gamble to throw him in at the deep end but it worked with Peter Kelly. Very quick and did well in the corner for the juniors but he's not the biggest and could be targetted by the physical Meath forwards.

Mick Foley - Could be brought in to mark O'Rourke with McGrillen moving to the corner.

Obviously fingers crossed that Kelly makes it but all things considered I'd go with David Lyons if the worst comes to the worst.

There were worries over right corner-back Peter Kelly after he injured his left leg on Tuesday night. However, after concerns over a possible stress fracture, an x-ray gave the all-clear and despite some lingering soreness, the manager is confident the 21 year old will take his place on Sunday.

Meath boss Eamonn O'Brien has stuck with the team that recorded a controversial win over Louth in the Leinster final for Sunday's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Kildare.

Cormac McGuinness and Peadar Byrne were both introduced in the closing stages against the Wee County, but have to be content with a place on the subs bench once again as the Royals go in search of their third All-Ireland semi-final appearance in four years.



Paddy O'Rourke is once again available after serving his one month suspension but Meath have kept faith with Brendan Murphy in goals.

Kildare selector Niall Carew believes Kieran McGeeney hasn't got the credit he deserves since becoming Lilywhites boss.

The Armagh legend has guided Kildare to three successive All-Ireland quarter-final appearances and will be hoping to take the next step on Sunday when they face Meath for a place in the All-Ireland semi-final.



"The fact that Kieran doesn't court the media as well as other managers means he is probably never going to get the recognition he deserves. That's Geezer for you," Carew said in the Irish Times.

"The impact he has made in Kildare, the loyalty he has shown the players, the amount of work he does off the field . . . I haven't seen anyone who is so driven to get the best for his players.

"You play for yourself but you play for your manager. "He has that charisma, that drive. He is very astute and always thinking outside the box to improve his players.

"He brings something unique to the Kildare set-up. Something you can't learn. I would think he is the best manager Kildare have ever had."

And, according to Carew, that includes the great Mick O'Dwyer, who managed the Lilywhites to an All-Ireland final appearance in 1998.

"Micko had eight or nine years to do that. "Geezer has them in a third All-Ireland quarter-final in a row and Kildare were on their knees when he arrived. And Kieran came in as a rookie. Micko had trained Kerry to All-Irelands.

"Paul Grimley was excellent for us but when he left and we went poorly during the league the perception was that Kieran didn't have a clue. But all you have to do is ask the players. That's the proof."

We are all entitled to our opinions but I think he's way off the mark with that one.
Kildare were at a lower point when Micko came and he didnt have 8 or 9 years. He left for 2 seasons in between. Micko won 2 Leinsters and got to an All-Ireland.
I'm sorry but its a bit of a crazy statement.
