Kildare Minors 2011 - Official Thread

After the disappointment of the county U21's last Wednesday it's time to move onwards and upwards and focus on this years minors. They're playing their 1st round match against Lonford on 16th April in Newbridge...I think. Anyone have any idea who's on the current panel and how they're shaping up?

There has been a lot of rediculous comments on this forum in the last week.
Lets not ruin another thread. jj have some bloody cop on.

Also this is a minor football thread. Anything negative discussed in here will not be tolerated.
These lads are all minors starting out on their intercounty footballing career.
No discussion on who should and shouldn't be in the panel. These are only young lads.
Bans will be handed out.

Barry Coffey and Ronan Fitzgibbon are on it from Sarsfields

Armagh beat them by 10 points yesterday in Armagh. They led by 6 points at half time but Armagh were very strong in the 2nd half.

heard minors lost to cork over weekend

with less than two weeks to the match against lonford does anybody have any idea what the panel is like?

kildare did not enter leinster minor league this year longford had teams in leinster and connacht legues this year dublin won leinster league by beating longford by 8 points in final

Final Panel to be announced this weekend... I heard that management felt they would benefit more from playing games against the likes of Armagh and Cork than competing in the Leinster League...

That is correct, stronger teams... they also would be happy avoiding teams they might be meeting down the line

Our last minor panel to reach the final took huge experience from playing the biggest teams in each provence rather than playing in Leinster beforehand. Galway,Cork,Armagh and mayo off the top of my head played challeneges against us and it showed when we were able ta brush past wicklow,wexford and meath on the way to the final.

Wat format will it be this year? i presume/hope they changed it from last year and we wont be playin the same team twice in a few weeks

yeah but it ultimately cost us a leinster IMO.........we were bollixed with injuries etc. down in Longford even though we still should have won on the night!

Is the game still on this Saturday at 3pm in Newbridge? not much talk about it.

Yeah they played a challenge among themselves on Sat last at 3pm in prep for this week.

Anyone know the panel?

there is no sub for competitive games, this is the first year in years that the leinster league is back running. all the friendly games in the world will not replace competitive games.

just hope its not the difference between the two teams on sat.

Dublin played and won the Ulster Minor League last year (hammering Tyrone who went on to win the AI in the process). We still beat them and beat them well in the preliminary round of the Leinster Championship.
