| It was fairly obvious to anybody who follows the underage scene in Kildare that there were players who should have been involved last Year that wer'nt, I know of One very very strong Club at all underage levels who are disapointed with the lack of lads thay had involved last Year. I repeat again, none of our club committee, or u21 management were contacted re: trials, and I am on the said committee. Yes its fair to say that some players will be overlooked, and may not perform at trials as they do for their Clubs, but surely they should have the opportunity to try out for their County team. Ogie, If your player was contacted direct by a selector, then he was obviously known to the said selector? Otherwise where would he get his number etc?, (from his club) ? Is this not again showing elitism towards a certain few? If they had contacted the players club, or u21 management surely he would have been sent anyway. Our Club were contacted by the County in relation to the Minors, and trials, and asked to send the Players they felt had a good chance of making it. | |

- I don't know much about how Clubs send out players, but in this day and age there must surely be a distribution list on an email account in Hawkfield that with the click of a button can send emails to every Club in the County.
They will then have a record of the email being sent so the onus is on the club to respond. It's called covering your arse, anybody who uses email in work to communicate will always keep keep a copy or add yourself to the dis list. That way you can never be pulled up for the " I was never sent a copy line" Yes, there is a distribution list for all clubs, all clubs receive almost daily emails from Kathleen O Neill on all issues from fixtures/fundraisers etc. Don't know if one was sent out for u21 trial, disgrace if it wasn't , ALL clubs should have option of sending players to a fair trial.

| So, if every club in the county should be asked to send three players to U21 trials, should not the same apply to senior?
No, I'm not confused. I don't think for an adult grade that the club manager or club secretary needs to be contacted with regard to a particular player taking part.
To repeat, there was a trial, there is another one. If guys leave lads out, well then the management must take the heat for that. But they are inviting players they want. Just as Geezer will do with the seniors/juniors.
A trial with each club sending three players is grand for U12 but as a useful exercise is... not useful. There'd be so much dead weight, it would be very hard to judge players... So you'd have to cut all those and then have a few more trials.
Don't get me wrong, if obvious players are left out, that's terrible but it's the management's judgement and if they get it wrong, they usually get cut. I did say usually....

| Get cut, lose their job. because they have left obvious players out, because they failed to win a game? Nah just let him keep trying. You can gloss it up whatever way you like Ogie, its a cock up. Where and when are these so called trials taking place?

I agree with you on the reappointment, I'm on record here as saying so, because the facts are there in black and white. I'm just playing Devil's Advocate though and disagree completely that every club should be asked to send two players to trials for an adult team. It would be mayhem. You just can't have it. A management should be judged on results and players left out or not. That's all part of it.

| I would like to say that the athy chairman was not too happy with the way Alan was re appointed this year as manager, I think that ab is a great trainer but finds it difficult to pick the correct team, apparently this year he is doing a lot more talking to the lads which is appreciated, I also feel that handy is a great addition to the management team, the lads love playing for him which is a good sign. Kildare have won all there warm up matches except for Laois, and had an impressive win over cork 2 weeks ago, I beleive our biggest challenge in Leinster this year will be the dubs, if we can get over them who knows where we could end up. | |

They comprise of a very weak remenants of the minor teams from 2009/2010 , wouldn't be too confident of achieving much when they meet the big hitters , would expect Kildare to win this grade if things run well for them , but as we know anything can happen

Towers man indeed , a great prospect in the years to come , tigerish attitude , wont let his marker get the better of him , well able to mix the ruff with the smooth, had the pleasure of coaching him at minor , very level headed young fella , no airs or graces. Sure his marker the other night the no.15 ended up 2nd in a 1 v 1 , came off injuried , then stated mouthing to the people watching from the sideline his marker was shite (mickey) the 15 was then subbed with 22, when the game was over we gave no.15 stick , Quoting for a shite player (mickey) he lasted the game , no 15 was sick as a parrot

| The 21s played the kildare juniors last tuesday. they won by a few points, Mulhall was the stand out player. The junior centre back line played well tho | |

Based on what? I can't see it myself. I'd imagine they'll be competitive but I'd be surprised if they were good enough to win Leinster. Hope I'm wrong.
