| Good news: outside of Dublin, everyone else in this division can beat each other
Bad news: McBrearty and Ryan McHugh are on fire, and with Michael Murphy back plus home advantage, you'd have to fancy Donegal
Team I'd go for...
Donellan
Kelly Hyland O'Grady
James Murray Doyle O'Donoghue
Feely Moolick
Conway Kelly Cribbin
Brophy Flynn McCormack

| I believe he's coming onboard. I'd have him straight into the team, no questions asked. | |

| Murray's potential is obvious, but don't underestimate the gulf between club and inter-county. Besides, I think Jonathan Byrne is a little undervalued. Good solid player in my book and I don't think he's done enough wrong to be dropped. Bring Murray in and hopefully he adapts quickly enough to add to the competition for places in championship. | |

| Don't underestimate the gulf between Byrne's performances and what we need if we're going to compete with the Dublins, Mayos and Kerrys. | |

| Not sure we have anyone better though - maybe Murray in time but expecting him to adapt to intercounty football in a week, know where he's meant to be, cope with the way faster pace and physicality, well, it's too much. | |

| Nope don't agree. I accept it's a huge step up but get him on the team ready for the championship.
Byrne's a good lad but for the modern game we need a few more aggressive, attacking half-backs like Murray.
I don't think O'Neill will bring him into the panel even this week by the way and maybe the lad will want a break after. Saturday but he strikes me as the sort who'd crawl to Ballyshannon for the chance.

| Ohtoo if he's wandering around the place not knowing what to do he should fit in nicely in our defence.
Probably won't feature although I note Mayo played Leeroy Keegan in next game after Westport won AI last year. Murray is exactly the kind of player we need - get him in there ASAP.

| Have to agree to disagree lads, in my book making your inter county debut a few days after you join the squad would be a bit nuts. Certainly want to see him in the panel though. | |

| Have to say I've never seen Luke Flynn play at FB, but do people rate him highly in that position? Seems to get good notices whenever he lines out there for JTB. | |

| Don't think Luke is the answer at midfield based on league matches so far. I actually think we could solve our problems defensively or at least improve them by swapping Doyle and Hyland. I know it seems too radical at this stage but Hyland is a far better half back than full back and Doyle is a much better defender overall and needs to be involved much more in the game than his present role allows him to. Not likely to happen but we cant continue to allow teams an easy run down the middle like we are doing. Div 1 teams will kick points for fun with that space allowed them as we have discovered to our cost so far. Definitely would like to see Murray come on at some stage the next day, he is the type of defender we really need. | |

Certainly does a good job there for the Bridge.. Better suited to FB than Hyland imo.

| Hyland loves to attack.. even at FB he seems to get forward, which isn't where you want him going from that position. | |

| Not bad Seamus. I'd just tinker with one aspect I think: I'd plonk Conway back behind the midfield and play 5 in attack.
Would still prefer to see Murray in there but maybe it's a week or two too soon. Although Hylo isn't a full back I could see him doing a better job than PK at corner back if we were to bring Murray into 5.

| Think I'm right in saying last time we played Donegal was opening league game five years ago in Croker. Niall Kelly played a stormer on his debut and won MOTM.
Team...
KILDARE: Shane Connolly; Ollie Lyons, Peter Kelly, Hugh McGrillen; Emmet Bolton, Michael Foley, Mikey Conway (0-02, 0-02f); Gary White, Padraig O'Neill (0-01); Brian Flanagan (0-01), Daniel Flynn, Niall Kelly (0-03); Seanie Johnston, Tomas O'Connor (1-00), Johnny Doyle (1-05, 0-01f, 0-01 '45').
Subs used: Paddy Brophy (0-01) for Johnston (56 mins), Eoin Doyle for Bolton (60), Eoghan O'Flaherty (0-01) for White (63).
Kelly x 2, D Flynn, P Brophy and E Doyle still involved - six players.
Let's not revisit 2011 - that one still hurts too much.
