FFS listening on radio here. "It's a disaster," for the Donegal goal. Now cleared off the line. They'd break your heart. Ger McNally had a really interesting stat on Kildare under Cian O'Neill. Think he said seven defeats by a point, another few by two or three points and we've never won by less than four. Whatever the opposite of clutch is, we are it.

Hard luck to the lads, massive effort by the sounds of it... Ref was cat, we need to take our chances though!! I think we will beat Mayo and Galway will have fuck all to play for as well so I reckon we will beat them too...

For the second game in a row we were massively hindered by an absolutely disgraceful refereeing decision.... We are at crisis point with the standard of officiating in county football. He sent off Doyle for not having his gumshield in - although he allowed play to continue because (of course) he'd forgot that he'd given him a yellow card earlier - and at a push, you might say, fair enough. But can someone explain to me why he didn't send off the several Donegal players without gumshields?

I gave up on football referees a long time ago but you still have to point out these utterly idiotic decisions when they happen.

In any event, he should have paused play when he told Doyle to go off and get his gumshield (just to explain as well, Doyle had it knocked out in a tackle a few moments earlier). Instead he tells Donnellan to take kick out and sends Doyle off for not having gumshield in!! Just unbelievable.

It is extraordinary that when I pay in to a Kildare game, I am factoring in that we might lose due to an utterly random, off the wall officiating decision!!

"Rules are rules" they'll say, but how many times have you seen players punished for having a gumshield out? A Kilcullen player in the Leinster Junior Club Championship is the only one I can remember. There's not a hurling keeper in the land who hasn't cut out some of the bars from their faceguard. I presume referees will be punishing all of those players now too?

I'm proud that Kildare went down fighting. It's frustrating to be losing these games but we are competitive and I'd be hopeful that the experience will bring us on in the long term.

Rules are rules - fair enough. But my thing is that several Donegal players were also playing without gumshields!! Anyone?!!

The standard of officiating is honestly putting me off going... Lads putting their lives on hold only to be confronted with this absolute BS. It's unacceptable. You can be be sure if it cost Dublin as well it would be a national scandal for weeks.

Tomas O'Shea won't be highlighting that, but honestly referees need to be held accountable for such incompetence,

But hey, don't worry everyone it's only going to cost us our Div 1 status. No big deal. Move along, nothing to see here.

"Bizarrely reduced to 14 men" say the national broadcaster. "Disgracefully reduced" would be my own description.

I don't care how many scoring chances they had - a wrong sending off is a wrong sending off. It's impossible to argue it didn't have a massive influence on the game.

Add on disgraceful decision two weeks ago. We are well past the threshold of acceptable mistakes - these are season defining moments.

Some lads on Twatter suggesting Doyle got the gumshield from the sideline and then stuffed it in his sock rather than his mouth.. surely not?? Anyone notice that?
From what O’Neill was saying he was on his way to the sideline when Donnellan kicked the ball out to him.

Ps you okay HG lad?

Again I go back to Gough's interpretation of the rules today - a Kildare player with no mouth guard got sent off. The several Donegal players without them did not get sent off. Still haven't seen anyone square that circle!!
