| Following a tough week of training, that culminated in a weekend training camp in the Johnstown Marriott Hotel in Enfield, news is positive on the injury front for the Kildare Footballers.
Shane McCormack injured his groin last week and is being rested as a precautionary measure. However, he is responding to treatment and according to management, he will be fine.
Both Peter Kelly and Daryl Flynn returned to contact training in Enfield for the first time since the Meath game and reported no ill-effects.
After resting up following his minor knee procedure, Dermot Earley hopes to be back on the field this week, while Rob Kelly is expected to take part in contact training, as he continues his push to be considered for the Down game.
Paul Cribbin's quad injury is still bothering him and while Ken Donnelly's knee has caused him discomfort over the past week, he hopes to be okay.

| Thanks for the update GaaHead.
Good to see that it is all positive. Be nice to see Rob Kelly on the bench for the Down match. He could really add something in the last couple of minutes if needed.
If Dermot as back on the field next week I think he will start against Down.

| Mikey is doing his own rehab, but he won't be involved again this season... The bout of tendonitis he got set him back ages.... | |

| I did post this on another thread but maybe its just as relevant here, they are just a few thoughts on training last night: Excellant event for sure. Great for the Kids and for us to get at how the team is shaping up too with a seriously intense session after the formalities were over. Everybody trained bar an absent Dermot Earley. Was very impressed with the focus and intensity. I had been to a few sessions during the qualifer run which were quite tame by comparision (which of course is to be expected) to last night. These boys put in such a hugh effort they deserve to reap the rewards they are seeing now. I must say two guys that stood out for me were David Whyte and Ollie Lyons. It is obvious that Geezers sees something in D. Whyte as he was a regular in the League and if he trains every night as he did last night every night - its easy to see why Geezer picked him so regularly. It took Kav/Conway/Flynn (and the likes) a good 2-3 to years with the senior setup to start showing their true ability - and I believe David Whyte will shine over the next few years especially if he keeps his obvious application and determination. Ollie Lyons stood out too me as well - don't think it will be too long before we see this guy as a regular starter for the seniors - had some very impressive displays for the Juniors this year too. May not be be fair to single out these from a bunch of 30-40 but they just caught my eye last night, but in fairness all panel members that trained last night put in a serious shift (and more than likely do everytime they train). Couple of other points - Killian Brennan, although will probably never be considered for selection again, is one seriously fit man. Great to see the two minors Dowling & Moolick training with the big boys and not ever once looking out of place. The futures Bright, the futures White | |

| I would say lads that Dermot is far from fully fit and far from certain to be available for the Down game | |

| Nobody could really say that Dermot was fully fit all season even before the injury in the Meath game Ogie. Lets just hope he can make even a 35 minute appearance against Down | |

| No harm in having him involved. Good experience for him as well as Moolick and Dowling. | |

Hope you're right but he's done damage to the cruciate on the other side - so that's two cruciates - can't see it.

| Wonder why Cribben was brought in considering he's off to aus. Is it to give him a taste for when he returns or could his involvement be in the shorter term? | |

| Derfil, it could be Geezer's bid to keep Paul here....
As you can see from this article from the Evening Herald in May, nothing is signed....
HAVING been without an Irish player this season for the first time in years, due to the departure of Martin Clarke and Kevin Dyas last year, Collingwood are set to re-load their Irish stocks.
The Melbourne-based club has confirmed that talented Kildare minor Paul Cribbin, who face Dublin in a Leinster MFC quarter-final replay this Saturday at Parnell Park (3.0), has committed to joining the Pies later this summer.
Cribbin has been on the club's radar for around 18 months. Identified by the Pies talent scouts in Ireland, Cribbin travelled to Melbourne for a trial last year but was too young to be signed by the club. However, he impressed during his stay and the club have been monitoring his progress ever since with the Pies recruiting manager travelling to Ireland to meet with the teenager and discuss his future recently.
"We offered him a contract and we're delighted that he's indicated that he'll accept it," the Pies recruiting manager Derek Hine said. "We're really excited about him and think he's a really good prospect. He's continued to grow and develop since he's been out here."
Cribbin is expected to join the club in October.

| I think part of it could be to bring him in so that hes not oblivious to the set up if and when he does come back. Build relationships with his future team mates? can only be good for him in the long term......... when he comes back built like a shithouse!!! | |
