| only suggestions. A lot of players from his era were very clever the way they played the game and were very accurate from play and had a good footballing brain. Mcloughlin has been successful with straffan. Gilroy successful with ballymore. Dywer has coached. I def think we need more instinctive forwards. We seem to have mostly goos honest effective forwards but seem to have to work that extra bit harder to get the score | |

Why not? I can't think of many better coaches in the county. Karl Dwyer is coaching a club down in Wicklow at the moment I think.

Very good point, but on the flip side of that, just because a lad was a poor player doesn't mean he can't go on to become a good coach. However if the name of a mediocre player was put out there, would the chap be put down, beacuse some people would look solely at his playing ability rather than at any achievements he may have earned as a coach or trainer?

| Lads, there is no way he's going to pick a guy based on how he was as a player. He's going to go with someone with a coaching background. That's what he has done from the start. He's not going to be bringing in a lad and taking a chance that just cos he was a good player, he'll make the transition. He'll go on what he's done, his qualifications and obviously on conversations too. (and before someone says it, he had at least 10 years of coaching behind him before he came to Kildare). | |

| The county boards financial situation may play a part here. I dont think we have a big fund to recruit the likes of Peter Canavan. The Dubs spent 2 million on all their teams this year. What do people think? I relly think Liam McLoughlin of Eadestown who trained straffan would be a good choice. He was pipped by Carew the last time for th ejob an ddid well with Kildare u-21s and straffan and is available. The straffan lads speak very highly of him. | |

| Cian O'Neill leaving Tipp, would he be one worth getting involved? Or is he too simillar to what Julie Davies does? Maybe O'Neill has his eyes on Moorefield, seen him kitted out for a few of their games with walkie talkie |

| If it is him, he managed St.Galls to an Ulster Club the year they reached the All Ireland Club Final, good appointment. | |

| A great appointment all round. The fact that he's an outsider, owes no favours to anybody and won't respect any reputations. He was an accomplished player in his day, played half back and midfield and was very very unlucky not to win an All-Ireland club with St. Galls in 05.
I was a little worried that we'd end up stuck with Alan Barry or somebody from Kildare, but I should've had more sense. Geezer is some man to pick these guys.
Roll on the draw tomorrow night and then 9 months of looking forward to Leinster

Ahead of Aidan, that's not what I've heard at all. Anyway, Rafferty is a good man indeed, bit more old school, which may not be a bad thing. Tough as nails.

| Apologies, I got that wrong.
Rafferty is famous for the saying 'nice guys win nothing' - could be just what you lot need.
