There's something so dreary about Aughrim in November! Well said Seamy!
Dreary and intimidating.. mind ya it would probably suit the Royals better than us.

Agreed... it'll appeal to their innate belligerence!

If we play or are let play as we did against Cavan we'll win by double digits. If they keep everyone behind the ball we'll win but it may be closer. They are not the Offaly most of us grew up with. They are a shadow of their former selves who found it hard in Div 3. They had to bring in 35 year old McNamee to bolster their attack.
The only thing that will beat us is ourselves, that's who I'm more worried about. But I'm a bit more at ease with this as I think JOC has definitely improved our lads. They seem to be playing to a system for the first time in years, plus the last three wins were decent and hard fought.

I suggest you should take a look at the bookies prices. Don't think kildare supporters are on there own, thinking they are going to win this one. Don't think thats being arrogant

I do believe we have what it takes to beat Offaly, however I will say I believed the same heading to Tullamore to play Carlow in the recent past also and hope the players don’t think it’s going to be an easy win.....

My twopence worth is , we'll win this as long as we're not going in too complacent and over cocky, and are making sure those white jerseys need a good washing on Monday. Biffo boys won't fear us one bit, have fck all to lose, and will firmly believe we're fair weather footballers.

Remember Eugene McGee in an interview once saying that while he was in charge of Offaly in the 80's that older Offaly supporters would regale him with stories of how Kildare people openly supported Down in the 61 final. He said that Offaly people never forgot it and relished the opportunity to tear into Kildare at every game. Not sure how relevant that is to modern Offaly players but its always good to beat your neighbours and we have a lot of wins over them at all grades in recent years. Wont be easy, just pity we cant be there to see it.

Interesting!
Full back line very inexperienced at this level - makes me nervous Inexperienced at No 6 too - makes me a little more nervous
The full forward line is interesting. Looked well balanced in league and movement was very good, it looked like Ben, Darragh and Jimmy complimented each other. Will it have the same balance with Dan Flynn in there??? I'll be watching that closely.
If we match them physically and for attitude, and that's a very big if, we should have enough fire power. Won't be more than 3 or 4 in it though

Con Kavanagh has done really well todate, very understated but effective, Full backline is inexperienced certainly, so a big test for them. In forwardline, possibly Ben will play at corner forward and Dan at halffoward? Best of luck to the team on Sunday,

Yes I wondered about that ESB... think we'll see Dan and Ben being interchangeable... might confuse the sh1t out of the BIFFO's! Thinking wouldn't be their strongest quality!
Big day for Aaron Masterson too... he might surprise a few people on Sunday.

I said before in another post that Kildare are building a team for the next few years I like the look of the team as we need to freshen it up from the last few year. Best of luck to the team and management.

Think we will see changes in the full bank line, bakanced team and good to see some younger lads enough in this team to see off Offaly hope we show some real championship hunger....... Don’t think Meath will walkover Wicklow either.....

Pitch and conditions won't make for pretty football tomorrow after the rain in Portlaoise this evening.
Training session for the Dubs.

Sods law we get 2 injuries to what was already our most stretcged line but its a strong team overall. Good to have Nark Dempsey back and lucky Cian Johnston is out. Hoping for a win and no injuries. Will be a big plus if this new fullforward line clicks.

Think Dan will play at CF, Would love to see Him operating there. FB line looks weak.. Dara Malone is more a Forward than a Defender.. even JD said as much on KFM the last match.. and He'd know.

I agree that the new additions are going well, I would also like to see a player with lots of physicality tried at number 6 such as Luke Flynn or F Conway, if we could afford to take him out of half forward line. Winter football, heavy pitches and straight knockout makes for interesting games ahead.
