2020 Leinster Senior Football Championship

Im sure theyll all be back on the county fold - they just got Moorefielded. Still, those lads are all experienced players - it must have been pretty bad for them even to allow this story to drag on. Has anyone a link to that game?

Is it the players though, why was a Celbridge selector talking to the press ??

What if either Athy or Moorefield don't agree with the referees decisions in the final and they decide to remove themselves of the Kildare panel ??

Kildare County Board should be making a strong statement on this matter immediately.

If it's the club doing this and the players disagree, then they should have a word and remove themselves from it.

If however it's the players, I'd drop them before they drop themselves. I don't care how talented you are, lads who cannot take responsibility for defeat to the point of wanting to boycott to blame others are no use to any team. Never have been, never will be. Give me lesser players who can own it.

A lot of ifs there just to be clear.

I'm trying to be objective here and thinking that maybe they feel they've been getting ridden in games for years and they're just pissed off and not going to take it anymore

There is definitely a powerful clique in Kildare football.... It's difficult if you're not part of the clique, especially when your perception is that the clique is effecting you negatively in some way.

Fair play to them. My jaw was on the floor at some of the decisions in that game and every single one of those went Moorefield’s way.

Nice to see them taking a stand against that rubbish. It’s the only way anything will be done.

This is not a case of a one or two bad decisions against a team, this is a case of the man in the middle not wanting Celbridge in a county final.

I’m no Celbridge fan but they were well and truly rode, without a saddle.

That's bullshit to be honest every team thinks they got a raw deal when they are beaten in a tight game and maybe Celbridge did i don't know but you take it on the chin and you go again. Thats sport. You learn and it makes you stronger.

Are people actually suggesting a Kildare County semi-final was involved in match-fixing. Loads of teams get done over by incompetence, far more feel they get done over to run from their own efforts. If walking away from a county panel was a way to react to this, there wouldn't be a player on an intercounty panel in the country.

This is all over the press and RTE, why do I get the feeling that we might have no referees before the weekend.

I didn’t see any actual comments from the players, management should of gave it a while before blurting out. Terrible that’s it’s gone to RTE within 2/3 days.. We’ve all lost matches because of decisions, seen with Kildare plenty of times.. Just throwing the toys out of the pram. What was the excuse against Moorefield 2/3 years ago when they played the majority of the game with 2 extra players.. a midfielder and centre forward if I’m right ?

This is such a complex issue on both sides.... I don't like people throwing toys out of the pram but I love to see people having the balls to take a stand against injustices.... I'm at a disadvantage that I didn't see the game but the stats are damning so i'm falling on the side of Celbridge here.... I've seen and experienced the clique type behaviour in Kildare and it pisses me off big time, it also effects the county team negatively.

There is also an issue around referee assessment and continuous improvement.... does it happen and is it effective?

The last thing to say, and I don't like saying it on an anonymous forum, is that this particular referee is consistently very poor in my experience of him. I wouldn't push the theory of match fixing at all as I've no doubt he's honest.

They are not talking about 2 years ago. They are talking about last weekends game. 2 years ago has zero relevance. It was disgraceful and unfortunately its not the first time this has happened.

There’s always been an agenda between the North and South in Kildare. We’ll never get on because of it. Just split Kildare in 2 and everybody would be happy

Moorefield influence refs. Weak refs fall for it.

Celbridge were beaten on the day by a team that have beaten them time and time again,

Some pressure on Colgan why should there be?, he's a long time ref now, mature enough not be be swayed by the pitchfork baying mob on here, hopefully he refs it as he sees it?.
