Does that mean they are going to scrub off the second yellow? As that sending off could have consequences down the line for Doyle. Nothing that can be done about the already severe consequences that are likely for losing the game. It's probably like the black card thing - you can't appeal it until it becomes an issue. Talk about an Irish solution.

| Yes Sligo. Also managed to be the first team I recall who lost a game for forgetting to list their subs on the team sheet - v Sligo as well. Huge screw up but officials might have pointed it out to them. | |

| Taking an optimistic view of this, because well, there's never really a downside to optimism in sport.
I do fancy Mayo to win but make no mistake, we are well capable of winning this. And if we do, survival is on definitely on the cards.
More generally, I find it quite hilarious the extent to which Mayo fans say to Kildare supporters, "Leinster's a joke – Kildare have gone soft and we are the only county who can beat the Dubs these days."
Says the county who never beat them, ever. Anyway, once more unto the breech etc etc.
And wear the gumshields on Sun lads FFS!!

| Fck HG you really don't like Mayo... even if we do beat Mayo, relegation is fairly certain.. Kerry away and Galway with their Corofin boys back. | |

That's what my optimism is based on........It would be brilliant to have something to play for in that Galway match

| Well said HG. Mayo are an insufferable bunch to listen to. Unfortunately a shit load of them moved into Kildare since the land commission! Miserable shower.
Hope we put in another good performance. Agree with others on here we are certainly capable of winning. Would be a confidence boosting moment if we managed it!

| I note that in the preview of the game on the Mayo GAA blog – which to be fair is always a good read – the author has another pop at us for never beating Dublin.
Let's just one thing clear here – Dublin under Jim Gavin are an exceptional team, but both Donegal (All Ireland semi final 2014) and Kerry (last year's league final) have beaten them in big games. Mayo have never so much as beaten them in a regular league game. Jesus even Cork have done that. Honest to God – Cork. Twice!!
Despite consistently failing at the final hurdle – and let's be straight up, failure is what it is – they have cadres of sports hacks bawling their eyes out and whinging about how they don't get enough credit. Credit for what exactly?! For not having the tactical wherewithal to take out Dublin and Kerry when it mattered? For not realising that they are crying out for a couple of more top-notch forwards and coming back with the same plan year after year (definition of madness etc).
The usual thing thrown at Kildare is that we're all style no substance, overhyped etc, but Mayo - for some reason I can't fathom – are cut more slack than any other team. For me, to be truly great you have to go and win it as Donegal did – and who also backed it up with 2014 ambush.

| Another recent post on the blog: "When it comes to the crunch, we're the only team in the country who can put it up to the Dubs."
Again, Kerry and Donegal clearly didn't get the memo.

No, you're not. Most of the country would love them to win an All-Ireland, unless it's against our own county. HG must have Rossie in-laws.
