| When is this going ahead does anyone know or would anyone like to guess?
Kildare are playing Meath on June 5th. Win or Lose that game they will be playing 3 weeks later in the 1st Round Qualifiers or a Leinster Semi-Final.
Championship was originally set for the weekend of the 10th/11th/12th June.
Will it go ahead this weekend, if not, when will it go ahead? |

| Well I don't mind it not going ahead the weekend of the10th June, however there are no club league matches from the 1st June until the 22nd.
That's a 3 week gap in the height of summer when the weather is supposedly ideal for football, and there is no football being played?!
What should clubs do during this time?
I know the jumping ship of the Chairman hasnt helped things, but this year has possibly been the worse in terms of releasing league fixtures and fixing dates for championship. |

| Agreeing to fix a round of the championship at that time of the year was a no brainer. The same dinosaurs that voted on and agreed this fixture will be the same ones up in arms now and calling for the fixture changes.
There is no way they should be played. Likewise there is no way there should be 4 group rounds of the championship. Its causing extra fixtures in an already congested fixtures calander.

Yeah that was a very odd move a couple of years ago. We were having it hard enough getting 3 rounds played in previous years. Unfortunately there is a big gap in club games every year it seems. Wasn't there a hastily organised tournament played last year to keep clubs playing games? They should fix league games for the Saturday the 4th of June as there will definitely be no champ.

| Who's that according to GaaHead because anyone I talk to is saying it wont be going ahead.
The County Board are keeping very schtum on the whole thing.
You reckon the draw is taking place on Sunday, is this a secretive draw taking place in Donadea Forest under a full moon at 4am? |

| The club championship should go ahead as agreed on 11/12 June, I don't see any reason for changing it. There is still a fortnight before the seniors would be out again, and we surely cannot start rearranging club chamopinship games when the county juniors have a championship match the midweek before??? As for going back to 3 championship games, thats not the solution, there is plaenty of time to get in the 4 games if they go ahead as set out at the start, i.e. 2nd round to go ahead on 11/12 june, there will be a hell of a lot of p*****D off club players if they are told that there are no championship matches till august! | |

Pay no heed to this Fionn. The last time I checked, local hacks had no say in GAA matters in Kildare. If theres a decision to be made about fixtures, these guys will be the last ones told about it! Common sense tells us that these games will not go ahead. But then, common sense should've told us not to fix them in the first place. And perhaps common sense will tell us to revert to 3 rounds of the championship. BUt then again I forgot.......................theres no such thing as common sense in the GAA!

| if we revert to 3 rnds of c/ship well then if you have lost the 1st two rounds thats pretty much it. the 3rd round will be of no significance with teams not trying in the last round and this could have a big bearing to other clubs pushing for quarter final spots. even if a team has lost 2 rounds in a 4 game format there is still a chance they can train hard for the remainder of the summer and turn it around. meath have 3 rounds played already. as for a congested fixture list this is only because of our county team. there is loads of time later in the summer for league games to be played and the clubs would be greatfull of games at a time when there might not be competetive football for weeks on end otherwise. | |

That argument makes absolutely no sense. Sure in a 4 game format if you've lost your 1st 3 games the exact same argument applies. It might be a problem in the Junior but if there's 3 games in the group stage of Senior & Intermediate and you've lost your 1st 2 games you'll be trying damn hard to win the last game to avoid a relegation playoff.

| If championship is set for a friday or Saturday, would the clubs be within their rights to refuse to release players for the junior game on the wednesday before hand? | |

| How would a club be within their rights?
Since when are players contracted to clubs in the GAA?
I genuinely dont see this going ahead and the county board are doing their best silent movie on the whole situation.
People are too busy fighting for the scraps from the top table. |

People are too busy fighting for the scraps from the top table. I thought there was a rule saying clubs must have their players for a certain length of time before championship? It's pathetic planning though, surely when they were setting the dates of the championship they must have been aware that they were one win for the junior team away from chaos? It has to go ahead tho, that's what the clubs voted on and agreed on & as far as I know, the agreement that county players wouldn't play in league games was done so on the proviso that this second round would be played

| Why dont they just abandon the whole club sene in Kildare and go play soccer, see how Kildare would get on then!
County players are a curse on a club, I wished I played with a club that had none.

| most county players have played 2-3 league matches aswell, in fairness there not supermen, as long as you have them for championship i dont see the problem, it gives other players in the club a chance to get gametime aswell. | |
