Big upset there but Carbury have been threatening that sort of result for the last few years. I still fancy Moorefield to win it out.

What is it about Moorefield?, always some sarcastic comment. Actually you're right it was the referees fault, he failed to make a blindingly obvious call the same call he made seconds earlier that would have given Moorefield a thoroughly undeserved victory. Paddy Murray took a free from the ground, Carbury guy wasn't the required distance away, ref moves the ball up 10 yards, Murray steps up to tap it over a second time and alas the same thing happens again but this time the Carbury player was standing even closer and inexplicably the ref decides no infringement took place and Carbury steal down the pitch to win a free in a scoreable but tight position, Kevin O'Neill decided to contest the call and the ref quite rightly moves the ball the required 10 yards, what was a difficult enough kick turned into a virtual tap over, game set and match!. Now if the ref had done his job properly Moorefield would probably have won the game by a point, Carbury would have had the moral victory because they were the better team overall but Moorefield would and should have had the 2 points in the bag, like in soccer if you don't get the first penalty call you'll get the second or vice versa in Moorefields case if you get the first call the ref decides he won't give it to you a 2nd time even if it was more blatant than the first?. Sport is full of moral victories, ask the Bayern Munich players back in 1999. It remains to be seen if that call or more to the point non call costs Moorefield dearly?. When we got Carbury out of the hat I said to a few more green eyed Moorefield supporters that this could be a potential banana skin, of course to them Carbury were just another team for the slaughter and Moorefield would win pulling up. Credit to Carbury they worked their bleeding socks off never gave Moorefield an inch, yet a fortuitous goal looked have put Moorefield into the driving seat, Carbury were having none of it and came storming back again. I've seen it before teams working like demons against Moorefield and then fading badly in the latter stages, but Carbury's workrate never slackened for a second, constant running and harrasment of the Moorefield players in possession. Easy to call Eoin Flats as man of the match because he got most of their scores and he also made some dangerous probing runs , but a large amount of credit must go to the Carbury defence who done trojan work through out. If they show the same attitude and workrate against other teams they will go very close in my honest opinion,

| I was at the games in Newbridge yesterday have to say the Carbury Moorefield game was a great game to watch very exciting to the end Carbury were the better team and definitely deserved to win. Moorefield forward were very poor, Roli went off injured after scoring 4 points I think he could have a broken arm not sure, Eoghan o Flaherty was a joy to watch scored some great points. Sarsfields played well Celbridge had a great chance when they were 2 points down for a goal Sarsfields kicked on again to win by 5. I didnt stay around for the Allenwood Naas game but i did hear Johnny missed a peno. | |

| One little sour note as regards Carbury, I was a little disappointed with some of the cynical gamemanship they displayed when they built up a little bit of a gap in the 2nd half, for around a 10 minute period a Carbury player seemed to be lying on the ground every couple of minutes or so requiring extended treatment for seemingly innocuous challenges, their goal keeper been the biggest culprit. For once the ref actually added on the required amount of injury and stoppage time and maybe a little more?, looked at one stage that added time was going to cost Carbury dear, as it turned out they got the winning point of it. But as we've seen many times in the past refs are often a law onto themselves when it comes to adding on time, some playing way more than is necessary others the opposite. | |

That is a fair summary of the game.No doubt you need a bit of luck to win a close game and we got it at the end. Overall , I think that we probably deserved to win and would be kicking ourselves if we had not done so. We have lost so many games to Moorefield in recent years and we were delighted to win yesterday.Roli going off was a loss to Moorefield and I sincerely hope that he is ok.Daryel Flynn looked to be carrying an injury as well.
We have Athy in the next game and that will be a very tough battle so we are not getting carried away by any means. Yesterday was not a knock out game so ye can regroup and are still the team to beat along with your neighbours.
