How soon before we can start getting excited about January football?
Kevin Flynn very impressive around the middle again, does playing at wing back restrict him a bit in terms of freedom to get forward? Good problem to have I suppose.
Woodgate looked good again, some very nice points and Dan looked lively too with a couple of points from play and marks as well.
Surprised to see Shea Ryan start after playing for DCU earlier in the week but a solid game at the back and Jack Sargant looked good again too.
Could be anyone from Group 2 in the semi final with Laois, Wexford and Wicklow all on one win each and Meath with a game in hand. Imagine it'd be the Dubs in the final after that if make it past any one of those.

Another good run out last night! 4-19 is nothing to be sniffed at this early in the year. Plenty of positives yet again. Woodgate had another game where he looked sharp. Dan Flynn was his usual dangerous self. 2 goals each for Kevin Flynn & Davy O'Neill. Kevin Flynn in particular has been very good in midfield, he has a tremendous engine and is our best ball carrier. Joyce looked solid at full back, albeit against poor opposition. Glenn and the management team must be very happy with the effort from all the players who have played so far. Would like to see more of James Murray at centre back, it has been a problem position for us for a long time now and i'm not sure if Shea Ryan is the answer.
We have plenty of options in the forwards when you consider we haven't even seen Ben McCormack, Neil Flynn, Darragh Kirwan (albeit injured) yet. Is Adam Tyrell on the panel does anyone know? I assume not as he hasn't featured yet.
Into the semi final now and thankfully we have at least 1 more game before Jack O'Connor brings Man United to Newbridge!

Dan Flynn, OGrady, Kev Flynn , Kev OCallaghan and Woodgate all very good last night but the opposition were dire.
I thought  Joyce, Randles and Murray were ok considering opposition and thought Kinsellas kickouts were too ponderous. Although we gave Carlow a good beating we still left at least 5/6 points behind.
A big negative for me was the workrate of O'Sullivan when he came on. A really talented footballer but he wasnt tracking back or grafting the way the other young lads were. This is the shop window for young players to impress management, would expect a massive workrate.

Who else is floating at the moment? Any lads to get some game time yet. In fairness Glenn and the lads seem to be using the O'Byrne Cup well but Flynn in the middle looks good. Like even if you are an attacking wing back you never have as much freedom as midfield. It looks a great call so far and Flynn has serious pace over distance.

The last time I thought Robinsons absence would cost a team winning anything, they won an all Ireland

People thinking hyland is a better forward than Robinson are delusional,no disrespect to hyland,he’s a very goood forward but he’s been playing intermediate club football for years,Robinson proved it last year he’s a proper snr forward single-handedly keeping cloghs up,he’s quality we can’t afford to lose

No question about it. Robinson has been the best player on the pitch every time I’ve seen him play at every standard. Incredible talent

I’d argue that. I think Jack has been exceptional at club level, has stood out at intermediate and senior level beyond how Jimmy has.. now I mean no disrespect to Jimmy, he’s an absolute gent, an incredibly hard worker and a phenomenal footballer. But for me, Jack outplayed him when the two were minor and has done so at club level, Sigerson level and for me, he takes it. That said, Jimmy’s attitude is impeccable and that’s the reason he’s the one talked about and lauded.

i saw robinson play in the u23 championship twice. Theres no way hes a better player than jimmy hyland. If i was to have picked a county player from that balyna panel it would of been sam doran or mark grehan. Plus if robinson is dropping himself from the panel as he did for the u20 panel glenn shouldnt be wasting his time with him. Jimmy is a far better option than robinson. Proven at intercounty level.

Fair enough, aren’t we lucky to have both! And plenty more young talent coming through as well, some untapped! Darragh Kirwan burst onto the scene from seemingly nowhere and what a talent he is too! I don’t want to back and forth with this because I genuinely really like Jimmy and think he’s a credit to whatever team he’s on
